“Back from the dead”

Well Well

The Bluebell Inn back from the dead ,

Stopped using this hostelry shortly after it was disposed of 19 years ago .great to see it in new hands ,

The present proprietor or Tenant has not inherited a very easy task but is coping very well there is a far better atmosphere now the dishes are prepared and served to a reasonably high standard
The interior decor is comfortable the exterior needs attention but I am sure that will come in time.
The many old regulars that it used to have are reappearing and all in all it seems to be doing very well.
Perhaps I would advise not to get to Repetitive in its dishes and ring the changes occasionally. But that is down to the Chef who seems at the moment to be doing a fine job.

Well done to both him and Tommo

Went for an evening weekend meal, expecting to be impressed, having heard and read good things about eating at The Bluebell. First impressions of the building itself are not great. Gardens, paintwork etc are in need of some TLC. This is disappointing given the pricing for food and drink. The choice and quality of food is pretty good but be prepared to spend 30 to 40 pounds per head for 2 to 3 courses with drinks. The interior decor is impressive but does feel a tad pretentious for a country pub. The atmosphere was underwhelming and restaurant was only a quarter occupied, on a Saturday night, which is perhaps a sign of these financially challenging times where people now expect better value. Contrast this with Cross Keys in Turnditch, which offers superior food, service, atmosphere and, most importantly, value, and it's a no-brainer - Cross Keys wins hands down.

found this via Google Maps as a place to meet friends who lived in the area. the website was down (not always a good sign) but we were not disappointed.

large car park, peaceful country location and impressive restaurant from the white table cloths to the very friendly service (although the landlord is somewhat "Curmudgeonly"!
the food was fantastic - not fussy well cooked and very tasty. downsides - it was a hot night and they do not serve outside so the restaurant was hot and the chairs had seen better days - dipped in the middle so rather uncomfortable over the course of the evening.

This place has improved dramatically since the change of ownership- the food was lovely and the service was excellent!
The goats cheese starter and Cajun chicken main were just delicious , and the atmosphere in the dining room was very relaxed and pleasant - we finished our evening outside in the garden, relaxing with a drink- a very enjoyable experience! We will be back!

Yesterday's weather was a blip in the heat wave in Derbyshire so we were ready to warm up at lunchtime after a long walk and were pleased that the renowned Bluebell could find us a table, it has always been fully booked when we tried to go there. Omg the food was really lovely- and quite good value- on Sunday you can have one course for £10.95, two for £14.95 and three for £16.95 I think. Friendly and very efficient quick service from the young staff and quite a buzzy atmosphere. Choose from the bar or the slightly posher restaurant - prices are the same. There's also a cute little garden. Mostly adults, I didn't see any kids there. It's also in the middle of very good walking country with loads of walks in all directions...

We have been going to The Bluebell for about three months every other week, always lovely food, nice lunch menu fish and chips or burger all good, presented well and tasty.
The management and staff are all pleasant and nothing too much trouble, so we decided t go for Xmas day lunch cannot begin to tell you how much we enjoyed it we had a lovely salmon starter and then sorbet for main beef wellington out of this world ! the chef if so modest he wouldnot come out of the kitchen when I asked to give him my praise, a beautiful desert and cheese and biscuits well I was full by then but the selection of cheese was marvellous (my fattening downfall !) and coffee and mince pies all for £59.99 worth more but dont tell the manager !. we will be going next year too!
We went new years eve and it was a great evening a fantastic band, buffet and all for £15.00.
I have paid less in other palces but been dissapointed and I didnt have to wash the pots so it doesnt matter what it costs I"ll be back !!!xx
