The Mirabelle was recommended to us by a friend living in Belper. We arrived to a very warm welcome from Sam and shown to our room on the first floor. Overall the room was clean, bright and comfortable.

We were due to be out all day and back about midnight, which didn't prove to be a problem. Next morning we were served a lovely breakfast cooked by Gary and again the service and meal was excellent. Unfortunately it was a stiflingly hot night and there was no A/C or fan, though if I'd thought to ask for one earlier I may well have got one.

We will be going back for the Belper Games next year and will be sure to book our room in the Mirabelle in plenty of time.

Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Christine & Mike Smith in Room 6.

Room Tip: All rooms would be quiet. Didn't see what any of the others were like..

Recently visited Belper for the Food Festival (which is an excellent day out) and then decided to visit again for a night out for Mother-in-law's birthday (the pubs are nice and close together!) - the Mirabelle was recommended to us. Lovely property, good sized bedrooms (the downstairs front room is lovely) - clean and comfortable and Sam is wonderful - very attentive, friendly and cooks a yummy breakfast.

(Would also recommend Bengal Blues - excellent food! and bring your own - from the offy next door :))

Room Tip: Ask for the downstairs front room - quite large (although I only saw two of the rooms).

Stayed 2 nights. Room decent size and clean. Beds comfy. Sam the owner very attentive, a touch too much?. Breakfast good, cook friendly. All in all a pleasant stay. If I find myself in Belper again I would stop here again.

Stayed for one night after a friends party in the town, it fitted the bill perfectly. Sam (manager) was very attentive probably over so for some people. Comfy bed, clean, good breakfast and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor at the back, lovely and quiet. There are rooms on the ground floor...

Stayed here to visit family, wanted somewhere cheap and in Belper. Sam the manager is magic! he could not be more helpful. For value for money this place is spot on. The bed was reasonable and we all slept OK,( we did get two pillows each ) The room had tea and coffee supplies and the heating worked, but no hair dryer. It was clean and a very quiet location.. We didnt have breakfast and this reduced the price of the rooms. The décor is strictly 1970's but for somewhere to sleep who minds that. Its clean and does the job. The towels are a bit thread bare and there were no toiletries supplied - not even soap, but again for such an amazing price that was ok with us. I would recommend this as long as you are not looking for luxury - just somewhere convenient to sleep. If they upgraded the towels and bedding ( it very mish mash and garish) it would be an improvement . Breakfast is only served until 9.30 even at weekends but they have a deal with a cafe 2 mins walk away for discounted meals if you want them.

Room Tip: Remember to take your own toiletries and hair dryer

We (two couples) stayed here for two nights for a family celebration. We were looking for somewhere comfortable that wasn't too expensive. My feeling is that as long as you have a good bed, a good shower and good breakfast, then that's all you really need.

The bed - was quite comfortable, but you need to overlook the shiny lurid bed linen. The pillows were inadequate - thin and only one per person. But overall it was okay, and we slept quite well. A half for the bed.

The shower - We had the front room on the ground floor, and the manager was at pains to point out that our shower was connected to the mains (i.e. not an electric shower). He said that we would have to adjust the water to get the right temperature. Well, the tap was installed the wrong way round so that when I turned it in the red direction the water remained resolutely cold. Even turning it towards blue didn't make any difference. It was only after ten minutes or so that we had a half-hearted dribble of warm water. Not hot. Also there were no toiletries - we had to use a bottle of cheap hand wash which was on the basin. No points for the shower. The other couple had an electric shower, and they walked up the street early in the morning to buy shower gel.

The breakfast - was fabulous! The cook came out and met us, and made notes of how we wanted our brekkie, and delivered it all perfectly. It was hot, tasty and beautifully cooked. A definite plus point for the breakfast.

The decoration is stuck fast in decades past. Patterned carpet. Myriad non-matching wallpapers and fabrics. It's all a bit claustrophobic, and in some places dusty.

The manager and the cook are both very charming, and do their best to make you happy.I just think they need a bit of help in the housekeeping department, and the owner needs to invest a bit more in re-equipping pillows, linens and towels, and possibly in redecorating.

All in all, a useful place to stay in a town with a shortage of decent accommodation.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with an electric shower!

We are almost finished now with a complete redecoration of the property and we do appreciate that some of our old wall paper e.c.t was not to all tastes. But we are completely renewed now and up to date with wallpaper e.c.t, and we always put comfort and service first before style and look of wallpaper, as we know we will not always be to all tastes in that area.
We do apologise without reserve to anybody who found our decor somewhat lacking.
