“Chevin View Belper is an excellent property for a large group”
Reviewed 7 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

A party of 14 stayed at Chevin View for the Xmas week 2016 and had a fantastic time. The house is ideal for a large party and is very well equipped which was important for Xmas. Lots to do in the local area and particularly some marvellous walks. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. Would recommend.

“Worth another visit”
Reviewed 15 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

This is a very nicely appointed cottage with generally well thought out facilities. The bathrooms are pretty luxurious, the kitchen large and well equipped; 2 ovens, large fridge (with odd beep?) smallish freezer compartment, though only 1 kettle, make sure you press ok on the ovens to get them started! Beds very comfy, plenty of space in the bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms. Parking out front, we got 5 cars on, you might squeeze another on at a push, but there are also spaces on the road.
The owners made us a Victoria sponge which was nice, and left us a bit of tea and coffee to get us started. Oddly, this was also the arrangement with loo roll; just one in each toilet and no further left. We'd have preferred a full supply of that to the cake in honesty.
We didn't pay the extra charge (£200) for the hot tub, and it wasn't really the weather, so we didn't miss it.
There was a problem with the heating which was dealt with very promptly. Communication in general with the owners was very good throughout the booking process.
It was clean enough, but not spotless. No wifi which seems odd these days, but we didn't miss it, and people have phone data for 'emergencies' ;)
Nice view from the living room, bit industrial in the immediate vicinity, but nice hillside beyond.
Walking distance to Morrisons and Belper town centre.
Full run down of the layout; we had to enquire for this to decide suitability for certain guests.
At front door level, large kitchen/diner and living/dining room. A 2 bed room with en suite wet room shower. A cloakroom with washing machine, so this was the toilet we all used during the day.
Stairs up from the living room to two 3 bed rooms and a bathroom with toilet (no shower)
Downstairs from the hallway, a 2 bed room, a 3 bed room with en suite shower wetroom (possibly toilet too, can't remember) and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
Down a few stairs, a door to outside and a 2 bed room with French doors out onto the decking. This room has a high ceiling and 2 outside walls and this all combined to mean that, even with the heating sorted, this was the coolish room.
These 7 downstairs bedrooms all have the living room/kitchen floors as their ceiling so if your party retires at different times, the night owls would be better in these rooms. The flooring is all laminate, so all noise in the living area can be heard loud and clear downstairs!
The sofas were very deep and loungey with cushions for backs and they've seen better days. As the capacity of the cottage is 15, assume the largest 2 sofas are 4 seaters, but that'd be a bit of a squeeze. There's also a cottage suite with a couple of high backed chairs and of course all the dining chairs.
Overall, does what you need for a big group stay, and we'll probably be back, and arrange slightly better for our members now we know what's what.

The property was excellent and covered all our needs. Well done to the owners. We had a brilliant weekend. The dogs loved it. The property was well equipped for us to cater for our evening birthday meal.

“Great house, comfy, spacious, views & facilities”
Reviewed 4 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Used the house for extended family staying for our wedding, 12 people stayed together and didn't trip over each other for a week, lots of space even more so than the pics show , nice outside place with good parking, good levels of equipment and things you need for home from home but not to personalised, large dining and living area with a nice atmosphere to the building. Nice views across the Chevin. Would recommend or use again, owners easy to deal with and flexible.
