“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 17 July 2013

Recently booked the Waltzing Weasel for family who were attending a local wedding. Carol and Lorraine were so accomodating putting extra beds in the rooms for the children and flexible on arrival and departure times. Feedback from everyone was so positive, good hosts, rooms and breakfast what more can you ask for..... Thank you

This was a lovely place with an absolutely stunning view from the garden. Nice spacious single room and I did like the hot chocolate and bikkies in the room! Owners are new but are making a really good impression and I would certainly go again. It was no problem having my breakfast early at 7 am and I was made very welcome. Stayed there on business but would happily go there for a weekend away. Didn't eat locally but there looked like plenty of places nearby within close driving distance.

Room Tip: If you could get a room with a view over the garden, do as the view is second to none.

Carol and daughter Lorraine are lovely. They are extremely nice and helpful hosts. The breakfasts are great! This is a lovely place to stay and relax, in a lovely area. They have only recently taken over, but eveything already is very nice. When they carry out their planned improvements, the place will be even nicer!

My girlfriend and I spent a night here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Despite arriving nearly 2 hours before the posted check in time, we received a warm welcome and were shown straight to our room. The room was clean, tidy and furnished with some lovely 1930s walnut furniture, adding a tasteful and refreshing alternative to most hotel-type rooms. The beautiful view from the window added to an already great room.
Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked, despite the fact the place appeared to be fully booked. Check out was quick and friendly. I would definitely come here again. The new owners have taken over the place brilliantly. Ignore the old posts, you won't regret your choice of The Waltzing Weasel

we stayed over night for our wedding anniversary. We were greeted on arrival by Carol who showed us to our room and told us to treat it as our home and come and go as we pleased. The following morning we had a breakfast that set us up for the rest of the day, with plenty of choice. The bedroom was very comfortable and was probably the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept in. we hope to return again next time we are in the area.

We stayed at the Waltzing Weasel recently for one night, booked at short notice. We were looking forward to eating in the restaurant and having a drink in the bar - the menu on the website looked really good. Unfortunately, when we arrived we found the restaurant and bar were closed down, so instead we walked 20 minutes to the nearest village for a bag of chips for our tea. A good bag of chips, but not quite what we were hoping for! And had it been raining, the 20 minute walk would have been much less pleasant. When we booked the room we were not told the restaurant and bar were closed - if we had been made aware of this we would have gone somewhere else.
The room itself was pleasant and clean, with a view of the countryside from the skylight. The owners were nice when we checked in and out, but were not really available in the way we had hoped - we wanted to ask about the surrounding area, pubs, restaurants etc., but nobody was around and there was no call bell on reception. They also gave us someone else's receipt when we checked out, with their full name and address on it and didn't seem bothered when I pointed it out. This lack of concern for data protection is worrying.
The breakfast was ok, although the glasses for the self-serve fruit juice were all covered in specks of black dirt.
All in all we felt it was expensive for what it was - an average guest house with no facilities.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I thought all information about pub and restaurant was no longer available on any websites as we are now a b&b, i will check again, we did not aim to mislead you.
We are in the process of room information packs which include places to visit and some great places to eat. The grouse pub restaurant is 2-3mins walk away and is a great place to go.
As this is a family run business and we live on site I am surprised that one of us was not around to help answer any questions you may have had. But just to make sure we have placed a couple of call bells to ensure guests can contact us day or night with any questions.
We also take data protection for our customers details very seriously, we have taken an extra messure to ensure the correct receipts are given out and that this mistake does not happen again.
As you have stated cleanliness is something we aim for very highly and we check every plate and glass before putting in the dining room, i do not remember anyone informing me of a dirty glass? If that was the case it might have been best to inform me of this at the time and not in the review.

We appreciate your comments and have took them on board.

Kind Regards

Waltzing Weasel
