“Perfect way to start or end your holiday!”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We stayed here after a 6 night break to Ibiza, having paid to leave to car whilst away.
We got back and checked in and I have to say that this hotel has to be the best airport hotel that I've ever stayed in! All or 99 pounds!! We were extremely impressed by the staff, especially on reception and in the restaurant. Excellent 5 star service with a smile at all times. The hotel is fairly new, and it shows. Decor is amazing, and rooms are a very good size and well furnished. Big flat screen tv. Everything you need and more. Shuttle bus takes just 5 mins to the airport by arrangement at the desk. This stay will now sway us towards flying out from east midlands in future, even though it is not our local airport! Special thanks to Sue... Magnificent customer service. Will def return soon!

Room Tip: All good.... Some with views out to runway .. However, no noise though

We stayed in June 2014 for one night before we flew out on our honeymoon. The booking was a gift and we were made to feel really special from the moment we arrived. The room itself was fantastic - ultra-modern, large and beautifully furnished. We ate in the restaurant and the food and service were both exceptional.

The staff were also great from the receptionist when we arrived, through the restaurant staff right to the driver who took us to the airport the next morning.

100% recommended.

Arrived 24 June for 1 night with airport parking for 11 nights. Requested a runway room and we got one got us more excited. The staff were very nice and helpful when needed the food was fantastic especially the breakfast we got a glass of champagne with it as it was my partners birthday.
We had a relaxing morning before flying after lunch. On return I telephoned hotel on the courtesy phone at the airport as told to get picked up we were in a taxi within minutes and back to hotel to collect the car.
I would highly recommend this hotel to stay and park it's a great way to start your holiday I will do this everytime now. I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff for making our holiday get off to an amazing start. See you again

It's somewhat crazy that the quietest nights of sleep we've ever had in a hotel came here, parallel to an airport runway. The Radisson Blu is a two-minute drive from the M1, and from here, you can reach South Yorkshire in an hour, Nottingham in 45 minutes or Loughborough in 15 minutes. We know this because that's what we did.

It's a modern, clean hotel. The bed is as wide as the nearby runway. In three days, we only heard two airliners, and these were in the car park. Inside, you'll not hear so much as a whisper from a Rolls Royce aero engine. It's remarkable that the sound-proofing is so effective.

The only downside that we found was that the bathroom has two windows, so when you're cleaning your teeth, in the glare of the lightbulb, your partner can see everything you're doing. In fact, you feel like a DJ looking out of his booth. The toilet's a bit of an echo chamber too - not ideal for romantic weekends. The bathroom and toilet arrangement has an unusual, quirky set-up, working with one door. If you close the bathroom door, the toilet is easily viewed by people in the living room. If you swivel the door to close off the toilet, the bathroom is open, and amplifies the noise from the toilet. You soon learn to put the TV on when going about your business. Anyway, this is a trifling setback.

The wine at the bar in the foyer is a little on the expensive side, but the Merlot is cracking. The staff is friendly and attentive, as they should be in modern hotels, but you can't always rely on that.

The beds are superb. Very comfortable - we truly got our eight hours here and didn't hear a thing all night. The aircon is effective, that's if you need it. Breakfast is £12 per person extra per day, which is ridiculously high, but is something that's crept in with British hotels. It really should be part of the room charge. We opted to eat elsewhere. I hadn't been to Nottingham since 1992. Gone are the vinyl record exchanges and cool menswear emporiums. In fact, the city felt a bit grim - it needs some investment. It's on a par with Northampton, and that's saying something. However, the Paul Smith flagship was rather charming and we ate a great Verdura Board sharing plate on the pavement outside Carluccios.

For a whole different, lighter atmosphere, take a trip into Loughborough. Goodliffe's Bar on Church Gate does a decent breakfast (veggie and carnivore) and cappuccino, while right across the street is an amazing army and navy/surfing shop called Irish Clothing if you're stocking up on festival camping gear - and who isn't nowadays? And parking's only 50p on a Sunday in town.

We'll definitely go back to the Radisson Blu. It's missing a bit of a trick, though. It should have a patio facing the runway, so we can sip our red wine at sunset and watch the aircraft taking off and landing. It's the only time you'll know that you're next to an airport.

Hi Lee

Thanks for the great review and your kind comments about our soundproofing and beds, before opening the hotel we gave a lot of thought to ensuring our guests would enjoy a good night's sleep and it's good to know we got it right.

Our breakfast price at £12 is much lower than other hotels who charge closer to £17 and you can eat as much as you like, we have over 100 items on offer.

Hope to see you again soon.

Warm regards

Daniel

Just what a family of three needed before our holiday. Very clean and comfortable with 8-15 day parking included in the price! Food was well presented and there's a good selection of wine's,the 8oz steak was cooked to my liking. No noise from the airport, and we were transfered via bus, just like the pilots.Wouldnt hesitate to recommend to family or friends.Enjoy

The Room temperature was suitable for a good nights sleep and very spacious compared to other hotels in similar price range. Bathroom very clean but the shower needs a little more power. Not sure the bathroom windows facing into the bedroom are necessary! Foyer with bar and restaurant pleasant and certainly not overpriced. We will certainly use this hotel again should we be able to get the same online price. Car parking a real bonus and cheap.

Hi Xris28

Many thanks for the great review, it really is appreciated. The windows from the bathroom to the bedroom are the subject of much discussion. Many guests love the natural daylight that they allow into the bathroom which is very unusual in a hotel, others prefer a little more privacy. We have a number of rooms which we have 'filmed' so that the bathroom can not be observed from the bedroom, ask for one of them next time you stay with us.

In the meantime, I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you next time.

Warm regards

Daniel
