“Good Ale range”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

Called in for drinks. Quality selection of real ales all well served. Ate in the restaurant. I had Innkeepers plate pie and my wife had chicken chorizo tomato sauce which was gluten free. Mine was OK but not impressed by the frozen chips and my wives wasn't spicy as the menu said. However the chicken was nice with the jacket potato.

“Food heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

We went into this inn on spec and what a terrific decision. The staff were very friendly and explained the various ales on offer as both my son and I are bitter drinkers. Because we had such a good night there we decided to return later in the week to have a meal. The meal we chose was something special and perhaps the best pie I have ever had in a restaurant. We both chose the Innkeepers plate pie and can only say that it wasn't just a meal, it was an experience. It was so full of meat and vegetables and loads of them that it would normally have lasted me two dinners, ( and I have a good appetite). The beer is really well kept and the choice is excellent. I cannot say a bad word about the inn and with friends are returning for a meal at Christmas, all the way from Leicester. My mouth is already watering. Thanks to the landlord and all the staff, for two great nights

“Good example of a traditional British pub, average pub grub, and non-existent welcome”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

This is a good place to show tourists, a good example of a traditional British pub (along with dour barman), low ceilings, cosy, with some nice touch's. The food is average pub grub fare in decent sized portions, and whilst the young lady serving it was warm and friendly, the same cannot be said for the welcome from behind the bar, which was non-existent.

“If you like microwave food you'll love this place.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014 via mobile

Quick to serve, polite staff but food had been nuked and was unbearably hot when it was brought to us. Considering the meal I ordered was called 'our famous ...pie' I expected better than store bought pastry that contained only half of the ingredients listed . Also a little concerning when the most abundant food on the plate was mushy peas.
Don't waste your money.
