“the great ridge”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

did this walk on sunday.beautiful panoramic views a bit windy but nothing like the weather that was predicted.the path is well laid out and clearly defined .very popular, lots of walkers. on the return we took the path down to the old closed A625.destroyed in 1977 by a serious landslide.amazing damage.would recommend this walk to do if visiting the dark peak and you only have a few hours

“Great walk”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We did a circular walk from Castleton - Mam Tor - Losehill - Hope - Castleton and it took us around 4 hours. Fabulous ridge walk, cannot get lost as paths clearly defined. Bit of a climb up to Back Tor but the views make it well worth the effort. It was very windy when we were there, but we managed to find a sheltered hollow to enjoy a rest and a cup of tea at Losehill.

“A Must see in Peak District.”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

It was my partner's birthday & he loves to trek. So I wanted to gift him a nice stay in Peak District mixed with some good trek. Ha Ha! I know, it is a bit different than the usual gifts he gets: perfumes, radio controlled cars, etc. So I searched for the walks on tripadvisor, and shortlisted this one. and Yes! He enjoyed it so much.

The walk up the hill is a little tiring but definitely worth it. Once you are on the top, you feel so close to nature. Make sure you have windproof-waterproof jackets, good shoes and Buff headwear to cover your ears 'cause it's too windy.

Thanks for all the earlier reviews. They are very informative and helpful.

“A classic ridge walk!”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

I always prefer to do this walk from Hope, ending up at Mam Tor but this is a more strenuous option. The views across the Hope and Edale valleys are spectacular. If you are going to do one walk in the Dark Peak, make it this one!

Super walk along the ridge. Despite a strong breeze, this walk provided a good energizing couple of hours. Luckily the clear skies provided great views back to the Kinderscout plateau. Well worth the effort
