“Great walk”

the walk along the ridge can be done in several ways and in several directions - very worth the view, and walkable from Castleton itself

“wonderful even for a novice hill walker like me”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

I really enjoyed this walk and my advise is sure it is best to get the steeper bits out of the way first, so I started at Castleton, as advised by other reviewers and it was certainly good thinking the worse of the exercise was over with first and I could concentrate on the awesome views and simply wonderful countryside, So very worth it and the pub at the end is a great place to unwind

“Great ridge walk”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

As a group of 4 with mixed walking experience, we decided to go for it, we set off from Castleton, a really lovely village (if you want to avoid a £5:00 parking fee, park alongside the Castle hotel), we set off past Peak Cavern, upto Blue John Cavern then upto the steped steep climb to Mam Tor, glorious is views and a real sense of achievement. From here followed the ridge path and enjoy the views, full circle back to Castleton for a well earned pie and pint at the George Hotel. (Ps well done Debs).

“Wet and windy”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

We started at Castleton. Go clockwise round and then you get the steep bit over first. Also, if the weather is bad, you are likely to have the wind and rain at your back!!

“High level walking with great views”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Ascended Lose Hill, followed Great Ridge to Mam Tor. Descended via the steps and returned to Castleton via the Blue John Mine. Returned to Hope via the footpath across the fields. A fine walk and not too strenuous.
