We had a lovely time, the staff were very friendly ,provided a very good service and were very informative. Our room was huge with a large en suite and very clean. The bed was super comfortable and the breakfasts kept us going all day.The Inn was well placed for all the local attractions. The weather was OK and we are sure if the staff could have they would have made it really warm and dry.

On arrival at the Peaks Inn we were instantly expressed and greeted with a very friendly welcome. We were absoultely amazed with our room, which defintely did not disappoint and you couldn't ask for a bigger bathroom!!! The owners, Lee and Madeline were fantastic and couldn't have done anything more to make us feel welcome. During our 2 night stay we enjoyed really good food (the portions are unbelieveable), a friendly surrounding and very reasonable bar prices. Bottom line, you couldn't ask for anything else from the Peaks Inn and if your lucky enough to find it, you'll never want to leave... We've already booked our next stay in August. See you there :-)

P.s Lee, you win hands down on the breakfast battle!!!

This was a second visit to the Peaks Inn. It has further improved. When we last visited the current Landlords had only very recently taken over . The place has been transformed. A new coffee shop has been opened serving state of the art coffees and teas , cream teas, good pastries and cakes. As a coffee lover with a partner equally obsessed with tea this was a boon. I tend not to function without good coffee first thing so this was a real boon. The service was excellent there as it is was throughout the Inn. The daily lunch and dinner menu was good offering decent fare in good quantity , using locally sourced produce. There is a good enough wine list , a cider list and good beer on offer ( as well as good coffee) in the bar areas. The bars have comfortable seating with daily papers and good lighting should you just want to read with a drink and a snack. There is a newly designed a very attractive outdoor seating area where a lot of thought has gone into creating a pleasant ambiance .
The Peaks Inn also offers free Wi Fi for those not wishing to be parted from their lap tops. Given the relative proximity of Manchester and Sheffield , I imagine its a good base for business people, who don't want to be in those cities for their whole stay but do need to be contactable. A cheaper option too than inner city hotel prices.
We had been fortunate with our week in advance booking as the days we asked for were available though mostly they were booked. A very good indicator I suggest. Prices are very reasonable too and cheaper than the majority of places in the area and they still allow single night stays which many don't. If you are looking for a value for money stay in beautiful countryside with good service, access to the hills, historic sites and a good nights sleep, I'd recommend the Peaks inn. We will return and there cant be a better recommendation than that. Next stop , Turkey!

Room Tip: Try a latte and pastry. Room one for romance.

My husband and I spent two nights at The Peaks Inn for our wedding anniversary and we wouldn't hesitate to go back....we loved it.

The pub is charming and the new owners clearly put their hearts and souls in the place and it really shows. There is a lovely ambience in the pub, its welcoming, friendly and down to earth but with a great selection of beers, wines, ciders and whiskies...its fair to say we probably sampled each more than once. The food is extremely reasonable, good quality and well cooked; the breakfasts are great - locally sourced food with an unlimited supply of tea and coffee.

Our room (Number 2) had some lovely features and the bathroom was very well done. The personal touches of bottled water and toiletries and good selection of teas and coffee make a difference. Others have mentioned noise which we didn't find to be an issue, but then we made the most of our time in the pub and enjoyed the atmosphere.

The new beer garden is really lovely with controllable touch panel heaters, fairy lights and candles. We made good use of the garden on a Saturday afternoon in the sunshine after a long walk between the surrounding caverns. Again, the personal touches of fairy lights and candles show how well cared for this place is.

The owners and staff had some challenges on the weekend that we stayed with water problems being experienced throughout the whole of Castleton. The owners and staff worked extremely hard to in the face of adversity to keep going and ensure that guests had a great time with the utmost professionalism and care.

We would absolutely recommend The Peaks Inn to anyone looking for comfort and character at a reasonable price with great food and drink in a beautiful part of England. It absolutely was a winner all round for us - we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can't wait to return (we even took some business cards and have been handing them out to family and friends).

We only had one day and night to experience the Peak District and were very pleased that we had selected The Peaks Inn for our time in the area. The young owners are lovely and are doing a great job of providing quality accommodation and delicious food at a very reasonable price. We had two rooms and both were spacious with charming decoration with large bathrooms. Just a note of caution regarding the bathrooms. They have a split level and I did trip down the stair so take care. IWould love to go back on my next visit to England to stay in the Inn and walk in the Peak District.

We stayed at the Peaks Inn for two nights and we can't really add much more to what's already been said on numerous reviews. Very friendly welcome, lovely room with a superb bed. Breakfasts better than you normally get and all staff extremely friendly. Some people have mentioned noise, it's a pub!! Does as we do and take ear plugs, you won't have a problem. Would definitely go again.

We based our decision of where to stay in Castleton on other reviews. We were torn between The Peaks Inn and the Nags Head, and decided the Peaks Inn was the one for us-we weren't wrong!

A lovely friendly welcome and excellent service, clean spacious room, bottled water and toiletries, powerful shower, great breakfast. The bed was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in!!

Nothing was too much trouble, they even made us some sandwiches when we came back late one night.

We ate another night at the Nags Head and the food was fantastic. However, it did lack the personal touch of The Peaks Inn. For example, a band was setting up in the bar and both the bar and lounge were full. Despite the fact they were still serving food, (and plently of people were still trying to order meals), they refused to allow anyone into the restaurant area. We managed to perch under the coat rack with our meals, but many others faced with nowhere to put their plate down, had to go without! Not very accommodating!
