“Promising..”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

This Inn is one of a few in Castleton in the Peak District, needless to say a beautiful area, so it has a lot of competition. The landlord and landlady were very new, having only been in a week or so, so they were still finding their feet no doubt, but they were friendly and helpful. Our rooms were a little cold (it was an extremely cold night, around -13, I think) but when we mentioned it they were very obliging and gave us and our friends heaters electric heaters (the heating was on full blast anyway). The rooms are very pretty, clean and appealing, and breakfast was very good. All in all we had a great time and I think this place is promising and will probably only improve as they settle in and get to know it better. I should like to have given 'good' rather than average as it's not quite 'very good' yet but is on the way.

We stayed two nights in Feb 12, and had a great time. We stayed in room 1 (four poster spa room) which was amazing. The jacuzzi was just what we needed after walking the mountains all day, although not extremely powerful it was perfect for our needs and totally relaxed me (enough to be asleep in the comfy bed for 2 hours after!) The breakfast was great, no complaints at all,and a variety of choice and being able to eat breakfast up until 10am is brill as you can manage a lay in as well. Nothing is too much trouble and the fires are always a great welcome after a day walking, and coming home on an evening. We also enjoyed the beers on offer here and at the other pubs in castleton. A great place to go and will defenatly be going back. Climbed Mam Tor on the \saturday which was a great achievement for me, after breaking my foot just over 12 months ago. Great little pub, with great beer and very friendly owneres \craig N Mandy who will do anything to help. BEst of luck in your new venture and thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: Spa room a MUST!

Stayed here to attend the carols in the cave. Had room 2 which was lovely with high ceilings and fan bed. Room 3 was pretty much tyr same although room 1 is a four poster with jacuzzi bath. Ate in the pub, good value and well cooked and a great brekkie with friendly service from a chatty south African lady. Definately want to return.

A massive THANK YOU to all of our customers!! Madeleine and I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to our customers for their support and business over the past 18 months. We will be leaving the business on Saturday 7th January 2012 to start our new challenge with our first baby due in May!! The Peaks Inn has undergone a vast transformation (and improvement....!!) in the time that we have been here, we hope that this continues into the future. New owners are due to reopen the premises late January/early February and we hope that Tripadvisor users will continue to support them as much as they have us! Thanks again, Lee & Madeleine

At short notice we decided to try and find somewhere to stay in Castleton. This pub was the only place that had a room free. I was slightly unsure as it was a twin room that could be made in to a double. We booked it anyway as the price was quite reasonable with breakfast included.

We were happy to find that room 4 when made up for a couple is excellent. The two beds together gave us loads of space. They were also really comfy, including the pillows, which I often find stops me getting a good nights sleep. The actual room itself is large with a big wardrobe, set of drawers, flat screen TV. The drinks tray had all sorts to chose from, including bottles of water which was a nice surprise.

The bathroom is separate, so no squeezing in a tiny cupboard here like you do in some places. There's a large bath with a good powerful shower over the top.

For the breakfast we had a full English each. The food was well cooked and the ingredients were of an obvious good quality. There was also plenty of drinks on offer. The woman who took our order and served us was very friendly.

This was our first visit to this pub and we were extremely happy with it. Next time we stay in Castleton we'll be trying to get in here first.

My wife and I had never been to the Peak District before so this was our first trip and I cannot recommned it highly enough. This is no 'gastro' pub but a fabulous good honest pub with great comforable bedrooms with al the mod-cons you could require. As an introduction to the Peaks I doubt you could better it. We stayed here for two nights and could not have asked for a better place to introduce us to the area - the village of Castleton in perfect and you have a pick of a number of other pubs to chose from.

We stayed last weekend 4th and 5th Nov. What a lovely place. The room was even better than it looked on the website. We were in room four - twin bedded - very spacious. The breakfast was excellent - you could have full english or your own choice of mix and match. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate there both evenings and can recommend the food. We also asked for a packed lunch for the Saturday when we went walking. Brilliant choice - lovely fresh bread and ham and cheese, must have had 6 slices of ham - fresh cookie and fruit and bottled water. Would definitely go back.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable, three night stay at the Peaks Inn. We stayed in room 3 which was very comfortable and spacious whilst providing cosy surroundings. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was of a good standard and the two lunches we had there were large portions and good value for money. This is pub accommodation but well worth the money and we would recommend to others.
