Me and my partner stopped for one night at the Peaks and were very impressed. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by Marie and shown to our room. The room was great. Big high ceilings, tastefully decorated and very clean, no complaints. The bar area was really great and cosy with a real fire on the go and drinks flowing.
Me and my partner had a walk round the village then decided to go back and have a quick nap before coming back out night. This, in a way, was a great mistake as the "nap" turned into a 3 hour sleep as the mattress and bedding were one of the most comfortable i have ever slept in so top marks for that. We finally got up and went to the bar to see a young chap (i think his name was Will) behind the bar. He came over to talk to us and was really friendly and chatty which was great and also a regular called John even came over and we all had a great conversation, with John even throwing more coal and wood on the fire to keep us warm.
Our sleep at night was great, i didn't want to get out of bed the next morning as it was cold but that was my fault as i turned the radiator off!
We went down for breakfast where there were a selection of cereals which was a great starter which would be followed by a full English. There were no complaints there as Craig had cooked a beauty of a breakfast which the sausage being delicious.
Although we didn't see much of Craig whilst we were there, when we did he was really friendly and asked how we were etc.
Overall we had a great nights stay which was relaxing and friendly and wouldn't hesitate to stop here again.

Carron and I stayed at the Peaks Inn on the 22nd Dec 2012 and had a great night, food was very good, room was very good and the hosts were excellent. there was a band on that night (the Hobo Sheik's) and they were great also, All in all you couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Castleton. Good Luck for the future

This is the second time my wife & I have stayed here and again we had a lovely time (although my wife fell ill- nothing to do with the break). This is a lovely pub with a blend of both modern & old. The food is excellent (although on this occasion we only had lunch, we celebrated our wedding anniversary here in August and had a lovely evening meal). The bedroom was great and we were lucky enought to have the same room on both our stays. The bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms I've stayed!! The beer garden is brilliant and a great place to unwind, but the wet weather did keep us indoors this time. Craig & Marie are perfect hosts and we intend to keep returning.

Room Tip: Ask for room 1. It has a 4 poster bed and a jaccuzi!!

Avoid like the plague! We ordered 1 roast beef main and 1 scampi and chips main, what we got was 2 roast beef, we told the waiter that's not what we ordered and he told the manageress who insisted we did order it and we HAD to eat it, so he brought it back again! After minutes of messing about he gave me my roast beef which was stone cold by then and said the scampi will be sent later. I sent the beef back and they sent the orders together when they were both ready, my girlfriend asked for salt and vinegar which didn't come, she had to get up and ask again! My Yorkshire pud and roast potato were burnt AND soggy! which left a bad taste in my mouth! I really could go on and on!
One last thing-the manageress was upsetting yet another customer as we were leaving.
Seriously AVOID ! AVOID! AVOID!

Hello.
Sorry to hear that you weren't entirely happy with your visit to The Peaks Inn.
Since you posted your your review, The Peaks has undergone a major overhaul in October 2014, and has changed back into it's original name of The Peak Hotel.
This impressive revamp has enhanced the quality of all decor both inside and out now making it the quirkiest and most fun gin and ale bars in the area, whilst in keeping with local traditions.
The Peak Hotel now boasts...
*Delicious home made food served all day everyday.
*Over fifty beautiful Gins from around Great Britain.
*Five award winning seasonal cask ales and a minimum of two ever changing craft beers.
*And of course four high quality en-suite four poster rooms.
I sincerely hope that you can call in again soon and see how a once less than appetising pub has become a thriving and fun pub for all the family.
Thank you for your review.
Rick

An overall very good stay at this comfortable inn. As previously reported, breakfasts were plentiful and served in an efficient and friendly manner. Off street (free) parking is a plus. Unfortunately did not have the opportunity to dine during the evening, but the beer was good....

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter, but the road noise is not too intrusive at the front. It was unfortun...
