We were greeted very early by the owners who showed us straight to our rooms and made sure that our needs were met. We where in room 4, it had 2 twin single beds. The room which was very clean and well decorated, had a large en-suite bathroom. Attention to detail had been met to a great standard, I honestly couldn't find a speckle of dust even above the huge wardrobe. After making ourselves at home we had a walk round the charming village of Castleton and its breathtaking surroundings.
We returned to the inn at 20:00 and had a drink in the warm, welcoming bar, and then returned to the room later.

After a brilliant nights sleep, and a soak in the spacious bath, we went down to breakfast. I ordered the full English, which arrived at our table very quickly, but was still made to a delectable standard.

Even though we only stayed for one night, it was by far enough to realise the amazing standard that such a little known hotel could produce. I would definitely stay at the peaks inn again and its owners should be very proud at what they have managed to make.

Room Tip: Do not be afraid to ask for more tea, coffee, or milk. And also remember to return your key to the b...

We stayed here in July 2013, 2 adults and 2 children. Friendly owners and staff, breakfast and service was great. Great base for rambling and visiting the tourist attractions. The only criticism i have is that there wasn't a family room for 4, we had our 7 year old daughter share our bed and a Z bed for my 13 year old. If they had family rooms we would stay over and over again.

Thanks for your kind comments. I do appreciate your points about family rooms but, unfortunately, we have to do the best we can with the rooms we have available.
Kind Regards

The Peaks Inn was almost empty when we visited on a beautiful evening in August so that should have been a sign!! We had to wait ten minutes for two different beers we ordered. They were finally served by a very surly barmaid whose manner and response to our query on the cloudiness of one beer was quite unacceptable.
We had to wait a while for our food but this was understandable as it was all freshly cooked. Pies were delicious and the chips some of the best I've tasted.
We go there because there is a large terrace outside behind the pub & away from the busy main road, where we can take our dogs. This is rare in Castleton. Perhaps if this was advertised more & the staff were more convivial it would get more visitors.

Hello.
Sorry to hear that you weren't entirely happy with your visit to The Peaks Inn.
Since you posted your your review, The Peaks has undergone a major overhaul in October 2014, and has changed back into it's original name of The Peak Hotel.
This impressive revamp has enhanced the quality of all decor both inside and out now making it the quirkiest and most fun gin and ale bars in the area, whilst in keeping with local traditions.
The Peak Hotel now boasts...
*Delicious home made food served all day everyday.
*Over fifty beautiful Gins from around Great Britain.
*Five award winning seasonal cask ales and a minimum of two ever changing craft beers.
*And of course four high quality en-suite four poster rooms.
I sincerely hope that you can call in again soon and see how a once less than appetising pub has become a thriving and fun pub for all the family.
Thank you for your review.
Rick

We had the most amazing stay - room 1 on the first night which had a four poster bed and jacuzzi bath - wonderful. We asked the next morning if they had a room for the following night as we had no plans which luckily they did as it was mid week. Room 2 on the second night was equally as lovely and had one of the best nights sleep ever - bedrooms are roomy and clean with juliette balconys so you can get lots of air in the rooms. Lovely breakfast with yummy sausages with nothing being too much trouble. easy to park and a lovely village to explore. Had a lovely meal on the second night and the speciality pies are amazing - thanks craig and marie for a great stay x

We didn't stay overnight at the peasksbut we often travel up for the day and have popped into the peaks for a drink or two, went in today 3rd Aug and couldn't believe the sour faced barmaid who served us,she should not be in the service industry! good manners cost nothing but there was no please or thankyou, she was downright rude!we have been in here before and the landlady has been very pleasant, giving our dogs biscuits and passing the time of day very pleasantly but today was totally different, very sullen staff who shouildnt be serving customers
