“Beautiful Peak District”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

A warm friendly welcome from Clare in this beautiful stone building dating back to the 1600's. Up the stairs to our very comfortable bedroom with well equipped ensuite. The window looked onto the quiet laneway and across to where we could safely park our car. In this small room, we had tv, a small writing desk, kettle and cups and comfort.
Breakfast room next morning adjoined the new cafe. Clare provided for gluten free food and we enjoyed our breakfast. Walking around Castleton was a delight. Everything was stone built and so well preserved. We wished we'd planned to stay two nights.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and comfortable.

So glad we ventured off the main road and found this tea room.
Very friendly staff and lovely food, very generous portions and would recommend the carrot and walnut cake served with a little jug of cream, my wife would like to thank you Claire for the recipe.
They made us and our 3 dogs very welcome and as it was so warm we sat outside by the stream.

We found the Ramblers Rest café by chance as it was newly opened and were very lucky to do so. Lovely place, lovely, friendly people and very generous portions. We had far too much tea for even thirsty hikers.

We were staying in our caravan and had a last walk before heading home. We nearly took a different route through the village but soooo glad we didn't. The Rambler's has just opened a coffee shop so although time was short, we went in. Oh such a beautiful place, such a lovely family and the cake was beaut! I had Rocky Road and my hubby had Carrott Cake so beautifully presented with a little jug of cream. Delicious! We will definitely be heading here again the next time we're in Castleton.

Absolutely fantastic people and lovely rooms. Me & my partner initially stayed in the room with the jacuzzi bath and we had a brilliant time walking around Castleton, visiting Pevril Castle and local shops. Claire & Robbie couldn't do enough for us, we asked them on several occasions about certain walks etc and they were always more than happy to help. We are now back again in a different room and still the room is fantastic and we have had the same welcoming response and they now have a gorgeous little cafe that we will be sitting outside enjoying some Ben & Jerrys ice cream nom nom!

Room Tip: would definitely recommend the room with the jacuzzi bath.

We stayed here recently with 4 friends. Claire and Robbie are excellent hosts - very friendly and full of information about Castleton and the surrounding area. Our room (5) was large with big comfortable bed and seating. Large towels and good toiletries. Excellent breakfasts and private parking across the road. Great walking around Castleton. Look no further if you want a great value B&B in this part of the Peak District.

So pleased we have found this little gem. We were made very welcome by Robbie and Claire. Our room (Room 5) was HUGE - with a comfy sitting area, large TV, super king size bed, plenty of towels, everything was beautifully clean. Breakfast was lovely, cooked to perfection - and we enjoyed the trivial pursuit questions!! Location was perfect. Without any doubt, we will look to return here when we are back in the Peak District.
