Please note , this is my local . This is one of the few surviving real pubs , not a pub/restaurant , boozer or fun pub. The building is very old (mind your head on the way to the toilet if your over six feet) , it is small (50 people will fill the place) , the heating is a log burner and an open fire which are more than adequate. There are no pool tables or slot machines , there is a dart board , boule court (summer) , games for the kids (battleship , connect four etc) and very friendly people (local and visitors). The food is good pub food , it doesn't try to be gourmet but does provide above average meals at very good prices. May I suggest Saturday night steaks , 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for just over £20 .The steaks are in my experience better than most restaurant/steak houses which charge £12+ for the food alone . Drop in , this is not a posh , rustic themed pub but has a character which can only be achieved through a couple of hundred years of use. And the beers good.
