We have just returned from a 3 day stay , we had room 5 v spacious, clean with views to the front of the hotel, a little traffic noise but didn't bother us too much , the bathroom had 2 lights out in the ceiling and the shower tray filled with water but was clean . The restaurant was small but pleasant and the food was excellent , breakfast and dinner Lovely staff , nothing was too much trouble . Just outside matlock in darley dale , situated opposite a lovely park . Would def recommend and would def book again.

We stayed here for our visit to Chatsworth House and loved everything about it. We booked the family suite, although we're only two senior citizens. We like to have a sofa and some elbow room. The suite was perfection and nicer than we expected for the price. It's on the second floor (no lift) overlooking a large pretty park at the back of the hotel, so it was very quiet. The bed was one of the most comfortable on our four week trip in the UK. The hotel is slightly outside of the lovely town of Matlock and the whole surrounding area is gorgeous. It's perfect for touring Chatsworth. The hotel has a great vibe, full of old world charm with many original features. It's clean, has a good staff, and feels luxurious. It was originally a grand manor house and then the Whitworth Park Hotel and is a Grade II listed building. The only thing that was a bit of a challenge for me was the bathtub/shower combo since it's quite a step up into it, but these old legs made it and there was plenty if hot water and good pressure. I liked having a vanity and chair for doing my makeup and hair too. We had dinner in their small, cozy restaurant when we arrived and thought it was excellent and good value for the money. My Chicken Filo was memorable and came with a generous helping of potatoes and a medley of fresh steamed vegetables. As Brits would say, it was a proper dinner and I left very full and happy. The next morning we had our included Full English Breakfast that was equally good. There seems to be ample free parking. Not one complaint - wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: The family suite is quiet and very large and extremely comfortable. I believe they might have music...

Have eaten here a few times, met friends for a few drinks and been to the Abba and Queen tribute events. Always have a good giggle and good food.

Nice wine menu too although would like more NZ and to see a British wine on the menu.

Ate in the restaurant, can only say food is overpriced. I had the pie, the main part of a pie is the pastry otherwise it's a stew. The pastry was in edible althought the filling was ok if not a tad watery. My wife has the fish which was frozen, at these prices I would expect a quality piece of fish. The grandson enjoyed his meal so if I ever ate here again I would have a child's meal.

Stayed one night whilst visiting friends locally,we were only lolooking for a bed for the night but still expect decent good clean standards, unfortunately this was not met with the room given ,a small room overlooking front car park room 3 I think.. The carpet was stained and filthy and window sills were dusty, the bathroom was minute, with only a shower,no bath,we are not big people but still struggled with space when getting out of the shower and using the toilet...
On a plus side the staff were friendly and the breakfast service and food quality was excellent...We would only stay again in a better standard of room and bathroom if that exists!!!

This is a great value hotel, with lovely staff and tasty food. Our room was amazing considering it only cost £100 for both of us for two nights. We stayed here to explore the local area and visit Alton Towers on our way back home. Free Wi-Fi, free parking and a free breakfast.

Room Tip: Room 2 (the family room) is larger than most.
