Nicki's place , Warney Lea, is an ideal base for exploring the Derbyshire Dales- it's only about 10 minutes drive to Chatsworth House which is why we had booked here. The apartment is nicely furnished and the kitchen area adequately stocked for a short stay. Nicki was extremely helpful and thoughtful. She was very quick to reply to me, phoned me with directions and provided extensive information about local transport and places to eat. She even left us picnic blankets, camping chairs, paper plates, napkins and cocktail shakers as she knew we planning on a day out at Chatsworth! Points to note- the driveway into the property is quite narrow as others have said in their reviews and the road is extremely busy, making it very hard to get out of the steep drive. There's plenty of parking space though and we just reversed the car around until we were facing the exit- made things much easier. The traffic is really fast along that road- we walked up to the nearby co op to stretch our legs but we wouldn't recommend it- it's a bit scary! It's also very noisy - all the time. We couldn't open the windows despite our visit being during the heatwave because the traffic noise rendered us unable to hear the tv or each other. I know it was a weekend and peak season but the amount of traffic didn't lessen much either. It is however ideally placed for onward journeys. The property is dark inside, gloomy, with poor natural light although the electric lighting is good. There is also a small fenced in patio area at the rear, but it's heavily shaded by big trees. The bathroom is tiny- it's really a small wet room with a little sink and toilet in it. Functional, ok for a night or two, but dark and not to our taste. Nicki's thoughtfulness and good hostess qualities were really appreciated and she's made a good job of presenting the property as best as she can. It was fine for a short stay to visit Chatsworth.
