We have just enjoyed an excellent family gathering for lunch at Blenheim House to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary. There were 26 of us in the party including four small children. Philip Ritchie-Smith, the owner/manager, could not have been more welcoming and ensured that everything went as smoothly as possible. The private room we dined in was ideal for our party and personally supervised by Phil who ensured our seating plan was accomodated as closely as possible. The food and service were all excellent, the staff were cheerful and obliging, and all of our party remarked afterwards how much they had thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

I popped in for a coffee, the first visit in 20 years. The public rooms are comfortbaly furnished with lots of little corners. There is a nice dining room and several outside seating areas. The main road past the hotel is much quieter now after the by-pass was built.

Having lived near Etwall for the past 6 years we have tried a number of the eateries in the area. We had heard not so good reports about Blenheim House so didn't bother with it. We heard the Hotel had changed hands and thought we would give it a try. Wow we had the best lunch we have had since leaving Surrey we can't wait to go again and have decided that Blenheim House will be a monthly visit for lunch or evening meal

The Blenheim House Hotel has changed hands recently and my goodness what a transformation.
The whole place has undergone a massive refurbishment and all done to a fantastic standard.
Phil and Helga will do extremely well here, they are very proffesional, friendly and welcoming. The food is tremendous and the atmosphere warm and relaxing.
Plenty of easy parking in this pleasant little village of Etwall.

We have friends in Burton on Trent just a few minutes away and we will become regular visitors to the hotel.
Thankyou Phil and Helga and all the staff. Good luck for 2012.
Regards Ray W. Louth

The Blenheim House hotel is a delightful venue in the pleasant village of Etwall, just fifteen minutes from Derby. Two renovated 18th century cottages form the main building, which includes a bar and restaurant as well as nine guest rooms. The theme is individual, period charm combined with modern facilities and décor. We used the hotel as a base while visiting friends over Christmas. We were originally booked into a large, attractive room with a beamed ceiling in the main building, but we opted to stay in the annexe immediately opposite, where my elderly mother was booked for the convenience of being on the ground floor. The annexe is a self-contained building with its own front door, within a courtyard and next to the small car park. Our rooms were opposite to one another, which would be ideal for a couple with children. Although they each contained a double bed, the rooms were best suited to single occupancy and it was a bit of a squeeze for two, but it was our choice and we were very grateful to the owner who arranged an immediate service of the room. The rooms were spotlessly clean with modern bathrooms, fluffy white towels and toiletries, deep pile carpet and comfortable beds. Each room had a full length mirror, trouser press and TV, although we could not get any channels on the TV. Heating was more than adequate. The coffee and tea making facilities contained a wide range of beverages and even a couple of packets of biscuits, which is always a nice addition. As we were staying over Christmas, breakfast was not included but the owner suggested we might like a jug of fresh milk for the morning.

On arrival we were welcomed by a cosy atmosphere and blazing fire. Correspondence with the hotel had been speedy and efficient and check-in went smoothly. After being shown our rooms we enjoyed sandwiches in the bar area. After our long journey we appreciated not being told the kitchen was closed, which often happens elsewhere. The restaurant is attractive and although we did not dine there, it has a good reputation for fine food locally. The atmosphere of the hotel is defined by its unique layout and appearance, and being a family run concern. Overall the hotel is comfortable, light and airy and we found the staff efficient and pleasant. Within walking distance of the hotel there are a couple of pubs, Chinese take-away, post office, small supermarket and a picturesque church with attractive almshouses nearby. We paid a very reasonable £45 and £60 for single and double occupancy, without breakfast, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

I visited the Blenheim House Hotel, (which is under new management) today. I wanted to organise a business meeting. I found the new manager and staff extremely helpful and accomodating.

The hotel had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming.
