Stayed here for one night for work and it is was cosy, warm and very clean and a welcome change to travel lodges and impersonal B&Bs.
Set in the grounds of a large house used as a retreat, the rooms are individually accessed off a courtyard in converted barns. They are compact, but have everything you need, including fluffy towels, alrm clock, tea/coffee and hairdryer. They have been 'Ikea-ered', so are fresh and clean and though you may initially panic that there is no TV, the peace and quiet is welcome.
The village is a 3 minute drive away, with late night store, pub, restuarnt and takeaway and a couple of local pubs serve decent food in the evenings. In the morning, you can get a slap up breakfast in the welcoming kitchen that caters for all tastes.
You are encouraged to wander the grounds and enjoy the views and bird song and behind the rooms is a pond with a seating area.
The retreat staff were very welcoming and for £40 ensuite for the night, I will definitely stay there again.
