We use this hotel when here for business. It's quiet warm and comfortable, best porridge I have had in a hotel.
Each room as theme in line with the hotels name, very cute Badgers last time.
Drinks in the drawing room would be evenbetter if the fireplace had a roaring log fire in it! Just a thought.

I booked what the booking site (I think I used LateRooms.com) called a 'Single Room', so I was expecting a tiny room in the loft.
Wow, what a pleasant surprise!
It was a large room, with twin beds, ensuite bathroom (which was spotlessly clean) with an abundance of soaps, coffees, teas.
Lots of drapes and cushions, heavy curtains that actually kept the light out - all of this and in the middle of the countryside. The silence was deafening!!
I didn't spend much time downstairs - but from what I saw, it looked absolutely fabulous.
Will I stay there again next time I'm in the area? Absolutely DEFINITELY!!

Room Tip: It's in the middle of the country so I would imagine they're all good!

Our stay was a lovely and relaxing and Alison and Ian were very hospitable. The evening meal was the best. I recommend the mushroom soup - to die for! Our room was comfortable although a little dark, we had room no. 8. I loved all the decor and the hotel is nicely situated just on the outskirts of the town within walking distance to a nice pub although the drinks cabinet is very well stocked!
My only criticism is that on the final morning I heard toast being scraped in the kitchen which turned up on our breakfast table. I felt this let the whole place down a little.

Whilst only travelling somme 20 miles this is the shortest break we have had. The hotel is full of charecter and the owners are very warm and hospitable. We had toad hole room number 10 which was full of charecter with a four poster bed. Theyre were plenty of thoughtful touches throughout the hotel. The breakfast was one of the best I have eaten, anywhere in the UK or abroad. It was our 15th wedding anniversary and was just what we were looking for. If I was a tourist wanting a great base for the dark peak, then look no further.

Room Tip: I'm 6ft 4 and four poster was long enough but room was quite warm being on 3rd floor, but views...

You'll struggle to find a more comfortable night's rest than at Wind in the Willows. The house exudes character and warmth, and I'll bet many guests leave wishing they had booked just one more night. Our room was very large and very comfortable - it was the best night's sleep we'd had in a while. The owners have paid great attention to detail so the place has a genuine quality feel to it. We loved the drawing/lounge room, where guests can sit and read the paper and have a nice drink from the myriad choices at the bar - a great touch for a relatively small hotel. We didn't have dinner here, as most other guests seemed to do, but we did have breakfast and it was excellent. So it is a wonderful place, but you're probably getting around the mark of what you pay for. It's not a cheap place but it delivers in spades. Worth it if you want to splash out without going over the top.

What a wonderful and charming hotel to stay in, having reasonable access to Manchester (one of the largest cities in the UK) and easy access to the Derbyshire Peak District (a very picturesque part of England) both steeped in history. The room was very cosy (yet roomy), quiet, and clean. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and the whole experience made for a refreshing change from the norm. The complementary English breakfast was very tasty and included produce from the local award winning butcher. The setting was very restful and surrounding countryside was very pleasing to the all the senses. Facilities included restaurant (book in advance), WiFi (in hotel), private bathroom (with tub and shower), and TV in the room.

We have just returned from a weekend break at this hotel.

On the positive side, it is in a lovely, peaceful setting and has a relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast was very tasty and well cooked. We had the evening meal on first night which was well cooked and enjoyable. The owner was very polite and unobstrusive and the service was excellent. We enjoyed drinks before and after dinner in the very comfortable drawing room and there was a good selection of drinks.. We were a group of four female friends and had booked two twin rooms. The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable with en-suite shower [no bath] The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed looking out of the window at the countryside and listening to the birds signing while lying in bed!

A couple of slightly negative aspects were the lack of biscuits/water in the room. We had arrived after a long journey [caused by many delays on the M1] and were looking forward to a drink and biscuit before unpacking and getting ready for dinner. One of the party doesn't drink hot drinks, so bottled water woud have been nice, although there were adequate tea/coffee supplies. There was no shower gel provided, although there were sachets of soap/shampoo/shoe shine. For the price of the hotel, we had expected the above to be included.

Overall, we had a great weekend and were well looked after.
