“90th birthday celebration”
Reviewed 3 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

It wasn't the hot tub that drew us to this property, but that it had a downstairs bedroom and bathroom for our birthday girl. The split level caused a bit of a challenge for her (and our 2 year old who had to go down backwards) and the stairs to the upper floor were impossible for her, though our 6 year old thought the 'secret staircase' was very exciting.....
The space offered in the cottage was superb for a large family gathering and there was everything you could want in the kitchen - apart from kitchen roll surprisingly. Plenty of hot water, towels and bedding etc, and it was warm, but we did need the log burner on in evenings in the large sitting room. Needless to say the games equipment was popular.
The photos of the cottage are true, except the sitting room which now has a rather thin carpet (with no underlay) on an uneven floor, instead of the lovely wooden floor in the picture.
The views fom the large rear windows are just wonderful and being at the edge of the Peak District the cottage is in an enviable position.
The 'dog poo' in the garden was disappointing. We collected a substantial amount in a carrier bag from both the front and back lawns before the children could go out to play.
Wifi is available, but the modem is situated above the large fridge just outside the kitchen and the signal struggles with the old thick walls. Logging on in the sitting room is difficult.
It is evident that this cottage copes well with parties, very well equipped from large pitchers to straws, plenty of parking and outside space to spill out onto, quiet with a superb vista, and would recommend it for such an event.

We were so disappointed to read this review, and can only apologise for the situation in the garden. We do allow dogs to stay and we check every week to ensure that the garden is grade 1 standard. This will not happen again, I can assure all readers. We replaced the oak floor in the livingroom for the thinner carpet - as the underfloor oak was preventing the underfloor heating from working properly and the engineers advised this action, we have never had any issues since we have done this as everyone says the house is really cosy. I will update the livingroom photo to ensure clarity. Thank you for your time in doing the review. Kind regards

Thank you for your lovely review. Yes Paddy and Jet are little monkey's...they sometimes just can't resist a bit of sneaky fun. It is always great to hear when people enjoy the surrondings..and as you said, plenty of pubs, resturants and villages nearby to explore! You will be most welcomed on a return trip.
regards

“Better than we could have ever imagined!”
Reviewed 30 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed here for a hen party and it was the ideal location, property and experience for us. The photos do not do the property justice, it really is even more beautiful than you think it will be with every amenity you could ever want. The hot tub, pool table and table football were great fun and the large living area made for a great central socialising space. The location of the property is beautiful and the views are breath-taking. It is only a short walk into the village where there are a number of pubs with great food and a welcoming atmosphere. All in all, perfect stay, would recommend to anyone. We're planning a return stay as soon as possible!

Thank you for your kind review. Apologies - usually there is a box there to take bottles to the recycling. I have replaced it as it appears to have disappeared. Unfortunately our local council don't offer the glass pickup recycling service. But the recycling centre is not far. Hope to see you again.
