“New owners three weeks ago”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

Stayed two nights whilst at a function nearby. Its convenient for East Midlands Airport. Since my last visit some years ago, a lot of new housing has been built at what used to be the end of the car park, and access is past the pub accomodation.

All rooms are in old stables/barns opposite the pub. Room 6 was spacious enough, except for the shower, but the new owners need to do something about the carpets, though. As you step into the room directly from the car park and there's no door mat, the carpet has got very dirty. The door needs repainting as well as it has weathered badly on the outside. A failed bulb in a bedside lamp was changed quickly. You had a nice large flat screen TV and good quality bathroom accessories and overall its quite smart.

We ate in on the Friday night : not an enormous menu, but we managed to pick some good items, and there was lots on your plate if you like that kind of thing. Breakfast was quite adequate, and the black sausage great. Friendly staff and owners.

Thank you for your comments, as you stated we have recently taken over and are in the process of repairs etc. we have got a decorator booked and are looking into ways of keeping the carpets clean. The menu isn't huge but we do have the changing specials menu and the standard pub menu, on which all the food is cooked fresh to order.

We picked the Hardinge Arms from a few we found on the internet.

When we phoned to make the booking the lady who answered the phone (Carolyn) was very helpful and booked us in for one night.

On arrival the welcome was friendly, we were taken over to our room which was clean and comfortable.

The bar of the pub was not large but had comfortable seating and a good range of beers. The menu offered a very good range of pub foods. When the meal was brought to our table I noted the very pleasing presentation of the food - it looked good on the plate and certainly was excellent to eat.

The new owners - Carolyn and Kevin have only been there for three weeks and said that they were still finding their feet. Our impression was that they had very much found their feet and were excellent hosts.

Would we stay at the Hardinge Arms again - most certainly should we happen to be in that part of the country again.

Thanks fo ra great visit.

Decided to go to the hardinge arms as we enjoyed it so much last time and we enjoyed it just as much again this time. The quality of food is of the highest standard and get the perfect portion size. The lunch time deals on a Sunday are good value for money, 3 courses for £16 is well worth the money. There are 1 and 2 course options also available.
The service was lovely once again, waitresses very friendly and tending to our needs.
Keep up the good work! We will be returning!

Although there was a mix up with the booking website and we weren't supposed to be staying due to renovations, after a lengthy trip from Devon we were greeted with nothing but warmth! The rooms were made up quickly and tastefully and we really can not fault this lovely pub and it's owners. The evening meal was lovely as was their cooked breakfast. Would definitely come again!

We visited the restaurant on Tuesday evening for my birthday, when we arrived the radiator was hot. the meal we were served was good, so we ordered sweet, this was when the heating went off, and the restaurant went cold. we mentioned this to the on duty bar person and he seemed to dismiss it by saying the pump is on we have had a bit of trouble. again the sweet arrived which was again well presented and delicious but you must sort out the heating and your "apology or lack of it"we did not stay in the accommodation as we live locally.

Thank you for your recent review. We are glad that you enjoyed your food whilst at The Hardinge Arms, I will pass those comments on to the chef. As for the heating, I apologise for the poor service you recieved from our bar person, there s a simple switch to flick on our new heating system (installed at the beginning of January). Generally since this system has been installed the pub is too hot! However we will ensure in the future that staff know how to turn the system on if the heating goes off and it is cold. We hope to see you again in the future.

We found this hotel after the Chalke Abbey suggested it on their website and we were pleased with the trip advisor reviews. But we were even more impressed! Lovely welcome from the owners and even more welcome from the gorgeous room and huge bath towels! Great having a little fridge too! We had a fantastic meal of ribeye steak and scampi, cooked to perfection. No noise from the pub once we retired and had a comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was also cooked to a high standard so all in all a perfect weekend away! Definitely recommend! Thank you for money well spent!

Thank you for taking your time to write us such a lovely review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. The little touches like having large towels in the rooms are important to us as we think it will make your stay more enjoyable. The surf and turf that is on the menu currently is definitely a popular option. Tom and I take pleasure in welcoming our guests when they arrive in order to ensure they have a pleasurable and happy stay...
