“rural retreat with superb understated service and a spa to die for”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

arrived early and greeted by tea and cake, the room (ecclesbourne )was lovely, huge bed, dressing room and fab bathroom , corner jacuzzi bath and a small bijou sauna in it also fantastic large head shower as well ,
the whole place is set up to relax, an honesty bar well stocked, breakfasts that were as good as it gets but the real treat was the spa (champagne and hot tub , match made in heaven ) . we had a supper platter served there as well which was top notch and to be honest we could't finish it but we tried ever so hard !
highest quality service looks effortless but you know its not , well done to all the staff and owners and we'll be back .
ps try one of the walks the countryside was beautiful
pps ate in le mistral at wirksworth great time and recommended

Room Tip: all look great

We stayed at Dannah Farm for 2 nights from 24th November to relax after our wedding. What an amazing place, we stayed in the Granary Suite which is fabulous, especially the private hot tub. If your looking for pubs and things to do in walking distance this is the wrong accommodation for you. It is just a total chill out place to chill out, we ate in our suite, the platters are amazing, fresh local produce. This was the same with the breakfast, freshly cooked on order, the management were brilliant nothing was too much, they were very welcoming and courteous, cannot wait to visit again in the future.

Stayed at Dannah Farm in june 2012 and had an amazing time. We had a lovely suite and also made good use of the private spa for the day, which was a very special touch. The management was courteous and friendly and the overall ambience of the place was very special. I would also highly rate the breakfast, one of the best I have ever had.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely and unique

I have to say when I arrived at Dannah I was a bit taken aback at the exterior. This was one of the most expensive places I have ever stayed but I did enjoy it. The room was huge but felt smaller give the clutter of furniture but that seemed part of its charm. Then there was a dressing room and an enormous bathroom. The bed was so comfortable, I just slept so well and the spa bath helped, I enjoyed the every night. I also really enjoyed sitting in the lounge by the fire, it was just so peaceful and even though it is a public space, it felt like a private home.

Not ideal in winter to have to walk outside to get to the dining room which is what we had to do. However, once there the food was excellent and the room was inviting. In summary, I'd return as it was so restful even if probably a bit on the expensive side.

This is the 3rd stay here for us, we really enjoy spoiling ourselves for a few days and have found Dannah to be the perfect escape from the day to day grind of work, kid etc , we have stayed in the garden room which was faultless, but have now started to really enjoy the Red room which is where I am sat now , jealous much ? Lol just joking, but the red room is very well appointed, all the bits and bobs you need and we have just enjoyed a lavish evening supper platter which really does cover all bases even down to the exquisite chocolate mousse dessert which my girlfriend has managed to devour already, all the staff including Martin and his lovely lady are, and have been very helpful on each visit, and pleasant , if you want to spoil yourselves, and really ' get away from it all ' look no further , rated, recommended and heavenly .

Room Tip: If you like the pics, stay in the red room in winter, that way when you go for breakfast the dining...

I booked a one night stay here for my boyfriends 25th birthday from 22/09-23/09 in the Ecclesbourne suite (it is far more than a room.)
Although many reviews are claiming this beautiful guesthouse is over priced I disagree! You get exactly what you pay for. I have lived in the south for a few years (Derbyshire born and bred) and I have to say finding somewhere of this standard for this price would be impossible.

The staff were just lovely and we thought the girl who showed us to our room and bought us tea and WARM scones and biscuits was just adorable!!
It is extremely tasteful and unique and is decorated really sympathetically to the character of the farm. I just couldn't believe it. All my requests were met without any problems. Rose petals and champagne on ice waiting in our room when we arrived. It was perfect.

The location is amazing. It is so silent and at 4.30am when I popped out for a ciggie the cats kept me company and the stars were just incredible!! They even had the cutest pigs!

The supper platter included everything and more plus a dessert. The bed was so comfortable we only got out to use our sauna or the jacuzzi bath.

The breakfast was delicious and they had EVERYTHING you could imagine. The home baked bread was a lovely touch and everything was cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and prompt and you were left to your own devices.

Celebrating a birthday here was the best decision... it was a very welcome break and we will be returning!! The best place I have ever stayed and the first bed and breakfast I have been to. It has set the bar extremely high for anywhere else now!
I could go on forever!!!!!

Thank you to Martin and Joan for sharing your home with us members of the public!! The live and time you have put into your business is obvious as soon as you pull into the car park. Thank you for helping me spoil my boyfriend rotten! Five stars is not enough!!!!!! xxx

We have stayed here so many times since 2001 we have lost count but unfortunately other commitments don't allow us to visit as often as we would like! We have just returned from two nights in the Granary and one night in the Ecclesbourne. As always the welcome was very warm from Joan, Martin, all the staff and all the animals too! The Granary is not just a room - it's a suite with an extremely comfortable bed upstairs and bathroom/shower room and downstairs are two sitting areas, one with TV and also a further bathroom/shower room. Obviously the best bit of all is the outdoor hot tub which is a real treat and is on decking with outdoor sitting area. The Ecclesbourne also has a large, very comfortable bed. There is a lovely dressing room and another luxury bathroom which also features a mini-sauna. Dannah Farm never fails to come up to standard on cleanliness - this establishment does not have the sort of cleaners who just 'flick' over things, they are very thorough. There are two lovely sitting rooms in the main house for guests to relax, with lots of reading material on what to see and do - the Peak District has something for everyone and all ages so you can't fail to amuse yourself in the area. We indulged in a supper platter which more than filled a gap and we recommend you indulge in one of these too. Breakfast is a feast but can be as large or small as you wish, from full English to just cereal and toast (homemade bread and the fruit bread is divine), the choice is yours. We had porridge for the first time and it was delicious. Dannah Farm is very quiet and informal, no uniformed 'jobs worth' type hotel staff or unfriendly receptionists nor indeed a formal reception area. If you want peace and quiet this is the place. It is nestled deep in the Derbyshire countryside so a car is essential but you are guaranteed some lovely fresh air and peace and quiet which can be hard to find. However, mobile and broadband signals are very good if you need them. Joan and Martin are extremely busy people but if there is anything you need or you want to ask advice on the area they are always happy to help if they can - nothing is too much trouble. I have read on here that the prices are a little expensive BUT if that is your opinion this place obviously is not for you. It is rare these days to find good accommodation where the guests are pleasant and don't make too much noise, play loud music or disturb other guests when they return in a drunken state, this is a classy establishment with classy guests who do not disrespect the surroundings or other guests. If you want Premier Inn prices you get Premier Inn standards - enough said! To us Dannah is worth every penny. Many thanks to all at Dannah who made our stay so enjoyable. Needless to say we will be back when we can fit it in to our busy schedule!
