The cottage is well equipted for all requirements, and some. Best equipted holiday let I've been too.
The only thing that would be good would be a shower curtain as there is a shower attachment on bath but you wet athe floor when using it.
The village is really pictures and has all amenities you need with lovely fish and chips .
We used the local village shop delivery service and all items where really good quality and came when we arrived.
I will say if you have mobility problems the cottage would not be suitable as the stairs are very steep and there is a flight of stairs to go in ahead garden as well
The property is typical for the area and retains its character within most of the furnishings and decor. It suited our purposes as a base from which to walk the surrounding area (we covered almost 23 miles in two and a half days). The heating worked well and the bed was comfortable.. The property is able to sleep 6/7 people, but there was only seating in the living room for 4/5 people and tucked away in the corner is a tiny tv. The kitchen was reasonably well stocked including washer/dryer, double oven and dishwasher. I would say though, that the fridge/freezer could do with being replaced as the freezer section is much too small to accommodate food even for the few of us there at the time.
Bare floorboards and a rug downstairs is okay, but my personal preference for the steep wooden painted stairs, would be to carpet or at least have some edging as an anti-slip measure.
In summary, the property is a great place to stay as long as you are aware of and prepared to accept, all the details at the time of booking.
This is our third visit to this cottage in Tideswell. I feel so comfortable there that whether we bring the family, friends or guests to join us or entertain they all go away with a wonderful sense of calm. They've usually enjoyed our hospitality but loved the cottage too. I'm sure we'll be back, it's our little home from home.
Lovely stay in a great location in a warm cottage with friendly locals when you walk out. Thank you for the biscuits upon arrival.
I booked the cottage to get my (almost-grown-up) kids, me and my wife all under one roof for a few days. I wanted just simple comforts (the wood stove!) and to be at home but in a beautiful spot. I couldn't have asked for more and the cottage and Joanna's dealing with it were pretty much faultless. She is kind and responsive to needs, and the booking was really good value. You will be next door to the "Horse and Jockey" and they do excellent pub food, big servings, friendly service. Tideswell has good shops (including a butchers, groceries, couple of places for logs, and a super bookshop) and we fed our starving brood from all local buys. I can't fault the experience, truly - I wish I could move in for good!
