“Looks great but not convenient for small children or dogs”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Property very unique and comfortable and if it was located as a detached property with secure private garden it would be ideal. Unfortunately the only access is through a courtyard used by the owners who live in attached house with their windows adjacent to the door of the rented barn conversion. Not suitable for free running dogs or small children as people are continually passing through.
Accommodation very clean and comfortable but there are no doors or safety gates at the top or bottom of the stairs which lead directly to the double bedroom.
We were made welcome by the owner and all the local residents are very friendly.
If you have no children or dogs and not too fussy about privacy, it would be a great place to stay.

Management Response
16 Jun 2014
I am very sorry that you did not find the Old Barn convenient; as nobody has ever mentioned these items as issues. I will make sure that I mention the lack of stair gates to people who book with small children in future; the upstairs bannister is unsuitable for attaching a stair gate to. From Autumn of this year we will no longer be accepting dogs but I will contact those who have currently booked and ask them to see your review in case they think that the need for access through the courtyard will spoil their stay. I thank you for taking the time to write the review.

“A perfect home from home with wonderful hosts”
Reviewed 16 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

With many thanks to Sharon and Andrew for a lovely warm welcome and for providing us with superb accommodation for our short break. Much thought has been put in to making sure their guests are well catered for in the Old Barn and we certainly felt very much at home, as did our dog. Thoroughly recommend it and we hope to be able to return soon. Thank you.

Would recommend a stay at the old barn to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in the Derbyshire Peaks. The old barn is a tastefully furnished well equipped property and would suit young and old alike. The owners Sharon and Andrew couldn't have been friendlier and the welcome gift includes some really lovely homemade lemon drizzle cake which really shouldn't be missed

“A Brilliant Stay”
Reviewed 28 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

The cottage is really lovely and is equipped with everything you need - and more. The owners, who live next door are very helpful but were not intrusive. The cottage is in a good position for sightseeing in the Peak District. We would have no hesitation in returning, or in recommending it to anyone else.

“Cosy Cottage With Excellent Facilities”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

What a fantastic property! Everything you need for a relaxed and homely stay. The barn is very well equipped to ensure that you have everything you need. The decor is well suited to the location and style of the home. All bedrooms are spacious, especially the main one which benefits from a stylish en-suite. The hosts are on hand to help you if needed but not intrusive and leave you to enjoy your holiday. In a lovely village with easy access to lots of attractions in the area. Would definately recommend the property

“This is a cottage you MUST experience! Truly wonderful”
Reviewed 3 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

First class cottage, first class and generous hosts, first class furnishings and equipment, spotlessly clean and a wonderful location. The welcome gifts were a lovely surprise and very thoughtful on the part of the owners. We all thoroughly enjoyed our very relaxing and comfortable stay at the Old Barn. Thank you, we hope to return.
