“What a fabulous place!”
Reviewed 4 April 2015 for a stay in February 2015

This is a wonderful place to stay - great accommodation with loads of equipment and based in a fantastic small village, with great pubs within walking distance. It is such a great base to explore Matlock, Matlock Bath, Bakewell and the best of what the Peak District has to offer. We cannot recommend it enough.

“A perfect holiday destination.”
Reviewed 28 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Excellent holiday base. Always clean with everything you could need. A friendly welcome with a lovely tray including a bottle of wine and a heavenly, home made, lemon drizzle cake. Our party consists of 5, four of whom are disabled. It is extremely good value for money and we always leave relaxed after having "a real holiday" It has a magical courtyard and Sharon and family are always on hand if needed, but never intrusive. This is our tenth visit and we are still finding new attractions in the area.

“Beautiful place to stay - highly recommended”
Reviewed 1 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Just returned from The Old Barn, what a 1st class place to stay. Like a real home from home. The accommodation is spotless and has everything you need. The Barn is in an idela location for getting around, not being too far from Matlock , Buxton & Bakwell, we had a busy weekend spent visiting them all. Sharon made us feel really welcome and the lemon cake was suberb...will most certainly be returning!

“week stay with my family”
Reviewed 18 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

great property clean and presentable throughout. Sharon was on hand for any problems of which none was encountered and the nice touch of a botlle of wine and homemade lemon cake and milk in fridge and tea and coffee was lovely touch. Very spacious property good parking. Nice to have 2 bathrooms as we had 2 teenage children with us. Would recommend this property to all lovely village and close to lots of main attractions in Derbyshire.

“Looks great but not convenient for small children or dogs”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Property very unique and comfortable and if it was located as a detached property with secure private garden it would be ideal. Unfortunately the only access is through a courtyard used by the owners who live in attached house with their windows adjacent to the door of the rented barn conversion. Not suitable for free running dogs or small children as people are continually passing through.
Accommodation very clean and comfortable but there are no doors or safety gates at the top or bottom of the stairs which lead directly to the double bedroom.
We were made welcome by the owner and all the local residents are very friendly.
If you have no children or dogs and not too fussy about privacy, it would be a great place to stay.

Management Response
16 Jun 2014
I am very sorry that you did not find the Old Barn convenient; as nobody has ever mentioned these items as issues. I will make sure that I mention the lack of stair gates to people who book with small children in future; the upstairs bannister is unsuitable for attaching a stair gate to. From Autumn of this year we will no longer be accepting dogs but I will contact those who have currently booked and ask them to see your review in case they think that the need for access through the courtyard will spoil their stay. I thank you for taking the time to write the review.
