“Perfect weekend bolt hole!”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We booked the cottage for the last weekend in May. Downstairs is cosy with everything you need to cook a decent breakfast, or knock up a meal if you prefer. The four poster was comfy, and the bathroom is just beautiful. The village of Winster is superbly located, near to Bakewell, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and great walks. Also good to walk around the village itself. The village also has two pubs and and small but well stocked shop. I would definitely recommend the Old Bowling Green for food, but you must book in advance as the pub is very popular. All in all a cracking weekend, and will definitely be back to stay at the cottage. Many thanks to Anne!

“Beautiful and perfectly placed”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Stayed at Anne's Briar cottage for a weekend at the end of January. We arrived late on the Friday night and Anne had thoughtfully put the fire on to warm the place for us getting in. The cottage itself is lovely - the sitting room with the fire is really cosy and the four poster bed is a nice touch in the bedroom. We really enjoyed our stay and Winster is a great base to discover the Peak District. Cooked amazing breakfasts in the little kitchen with food from the farm shop at Chatsworth house - highly recommend!

Reviewed 15 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

We had a really fantastic break at briar cottage, it was cosy, warm and welcoming, and absolutely perfect for two! Lots of gorgeous Derbyshire villages nearby and plenty of walks close! So relaxing, really lovely comfy bed and fantastic bathroom and shower! Really nicely done and incredibly reasonable. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a comfortable and cosy country escape! Really lovely! Many thanks!!

“Lovely cottage with modern twist”
Reviewed 8 December 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Lovely place to stay, very cosy! There was two of us and our dog and it was perfect. Lovely village with 2 pubs within easy walking distance. Perfect location for visiting Peak District and not far from the M1. Very cost effective compared to a hotel and we loved it, the only fault was there wasn't a pen to write good things in the guest book! The irony!

“Comfortable Character-Filled Cottage”
Reviewed 21 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This cottage ticked nearly all the boxes for a charming character-filled Peak District cottage for two. Great walks were available, many from the door, and the short walk around Winster was well worth the time as it was full of interest.
As noted by others the bathroom is excellent and the facilities in general were good and the property was very clean.
The owners were very welcoming and were quick to attend to a minor glitch with the Wi Fi connection - thick stone walls are not always conducive to good reception with cell phones or Wi Fi.
The only minor issues were the advertised balcony did not exist and the advertised courtyard was not really usable in that there was no furniture provided.
We would certainly book again at Briar Cottage.
