We've stayed at a number of places in Derbyshire and this "does what it says on the tin". Being an old building, the rooms are nice and large but mind your head occasionally if you're tall. Unfortunately we we're straight above the bar, and you could hear everything until shut down. Glad it wasn't too late a night!

We had food there too. Plenty of it on your plate. Matched the cost and just what wa needed on the day.

All that's written is true - log fires in the breakfast room, coffee in the room. But I thought it was overprice, given the size of the room, quality of ingredients of the breakfast etc. We didn't notice any noise but we were out to midnight ourselves and the bar below had shut.

We stayed in the family room with our 2 year old daughter - lovely clean room, great staff, good value, good breakfast, comfortable bed. A couple of downsides: the location is central and it got a bit rowdy on Friday night for an hour or so - earplugs may be needed! The loo flush is not quiet, either. The town is so pretty, and well worth a look. La Mistral restaurant nearby with a good menu (kids and adults), great service and extensive wine list. Recommend.

Room Tip: Room 2 a family room (big bed and a single bed) but up a number of stairs with no lift. Looks over m...

Log fires, great food, excellent hosts and friendly staff - what more do you need! Cosy room with a few added extras such as a cafetiere and bottles of water. Quiet and restful - no noisy guests. Would recommend to friends and family for a perfect no fuss break.

Room Tip: All the charm of a historic inn with the comfort and style of a boutique hotel.

We have just returned from a party in Wirksworth Town Hall. We stayed at this hotel because of good reviews and ideal location to the town hall (right opposite). We were not disappointed as the hotel rooms are excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. This is not a 5 star hotel but for the cost of a 3 star was fantastic value for money. We stayed in room 2 which was on the second floor overlooking the market place. Will we stay here again.....without doubt! Thank you from Julie and Carl

Room Tip: We would recommend the 'family room' which for a little extra gives you lots of extra space.

Spent a mini break here with my husband. Friendly warm welcome.Staff lovely, room very comfortable and clean. Food fantastic. Would stay here again and will do as soon as we can.
Room came with all the extras you expect with an added surprise of the cafetiere. Towels were immaculate. More of a friendly local pub than a first sight a hotel, but the service from the friendly staff is superior to many hotels we have stayed in.
