“A jewel in the Dales.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2012

We stayed at The Farmyard in between 28th and 30th October 2012.
We felt welcome from the moment we stepped over the threshold. Sue and Andrea were more than accomodating.
The rooms were warm and had everything that we needed. The breakfast was substantial and came with friendly conversation from the bubbly 'Sue' who runs the establishment and is not affraid of hard work!!
We are well travelled and eat out at a different restaurant on Hi Life every week and can advise that the evening meals were of a very high standard. Hot tasty home cooking. The Black Pudding entrée and Hunters Chicken main were delicious, as was the Monkfish Tails and Sweet Potato and Spinach curry. We had planned to eat at a number of neighbouring restaurants but had no desire to after the first meal at the Farmyard!
The location has eight planned walks from it and whilst we were there we visited Bakewell and Castleton.
Youlgreave is a quaint, sleepy and yet charismatic village in the Debryshire Dales and The Farmyard is the jewel in the crown.
We highly recommend it for a break in the countryside.

Room Tip: All rooms are named after farm enclosures and we stayed in the Pig Sty which was right next to the b...

We chose the Farmyard Inn for the first two nights on our first ever visit to the Peak District in September and were not disappointed. Our welcome was warm and friendly, the accomodation was clean and cosy and the home-cooked food was great. Our thanks to Sue and Andrea for the way they looked after us and our very best wishes for their future success.

Have stayed at the Farmyard several times over the last few years and will definitely continue to make it our first choice when we are in the area. Sue and Andrea have done a great job since they took over recently and I'm sure they will go from strength to strength. Wonderful, warm welcome, clean, cosy accommodation and good food, all delivered with unfailing good humour - have never had so much entertainment at breakfast! The pub gets very busy so reserving a table for the evening is essential. Keep up the good work!

Stayed an extra night after a friendly, warm welcome that kept us well fed and watered after a days walking in wonderful countryside. Well worth a visit for a meal or b&b, will definitely go back at another time of year.
I hope the same staff stay at the Farmyard, they made the stay enjoyable!

Our stay was for only one night but we could have stayed longer. The pub was quiet when we first checked in but it soon got busy ( would advise you to reserve a table ) The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpfull. The food was very tasty and excellent value for money. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable. We would not hesitate in visiting The Farmyard Inn again.

Arrived at The Farmyard pub with a very large group of walkers without giving them prior warning. We all wanted drinks and food which turned the pub from a calm pleasant atmosphere to a busy hubbub. The staff managed this invasion with humour and efficient service. We were warned that there would be a delay in receiving our food but this wasn't a problem as we enjoyed a well earned rest in their pleasant garden. We ordered a wide selection from their menu, everything from sandwiches to full meals. The food was excellent and well presented, quite an achievement when a group of 30 or more arrive unannounced. Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone.
