Beautiful pub in a great location. We stayed up the road at the youth hostel and had tea here after a day walking. I had a steak with all the trimmings. Cooked to perfection with great chips. Thank you.

We stayed 4 nights in a pigsty but what a lovely warm cosy pigsty it was in The Farmyard Inn Youlgreave. All bedrooms had farmyard names Pigsty, Cowshed, Sheep Pen and Stables. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We decided to have a short break in Derbyshire on our way home from Scotland and we were made to feel so welcome by the lovely landlady Sue and her bar staff that we felt we had been there for ever. The bar is quite small but Sue made sure we had a table every night of our stay. The food was really good especially the beef bourguignon which we had on the first night. The fish and chips were really lovely and my husband recommended the Hunters Chicken. If we return to the Derbyshire area we will definately stay at The Farmyard Inn again.

We stayed one night for bed, breakfast and evening meal.
The room we had was clean, well equipped with a really comfortable bed.
The bathroom was clean, with a walk in shower, and shower gel, shampoo, and soap provided.

We spent the day in Bakewell and Buxton, returning for drinks and our evening meal.
We ate in the pub, not sure if there is a separate room for dining in the evening.
The food was excellent, with a large selection of home made soups; well worth a try.

Although the accommodation is single storey, and facing the car park we didn't experience excessive noise, even with the windows open.

Breakfast was served in another room of the pub, maybe this doubles up as a dining room in the evening; although we ate in the bar area.

Fruit juices and cereal were provided for those people wanting a first course, before their 'full english'.

I think a menu would have been useful. As I don't like wasting food, I would have preferred to select the items I wanted.
The portions were fine, although the bacon and sausage appeared to be a little overcooked for my liking.

The pub has a most welcoming atmosphere, and the landlady very friendly.
We would certainly return, there are two other pubs in the village we yet to visit.

My other half and I stayed at the Farmyard Inn on a Friday night looking for some relaxation and a few beers after a long week at work. We had booked last minute on laterooms and wanted to be in easy reach of Bakewell. We did get a bit lost finding our way thanks to my poor navigation but were pleasantly surprised when we eventually arrived. The village of Youlgreave itself is lovely with 3 pubs in total so we could have easily just spent the night there. We did however go into Bakewell. Make sure you book a taxi though if you do as there are only a few taxi companys around.
We arrived at about 7pm to the smell of lovely food. It was really busy too which is always a good sign. As real ale drinkers we were also pleased to see 4 different types of ale were available. The pub itself was welcoming and cosy with plenty of literature available about the surrounding area. There were plenty of parking spaces right near the accommodation so no need to drag your luggage around.
We were shown to our room (The Cowshed) by our quirky landlady. We had all the usual requirements in the room - hairdryer, tea and coffee, a comfy bed and lots of coathangers in the wardrobe! The bed was comfortable and of a fairly decent size. The room was clean and also a decent size for the 2 of us with plenty of space for our belongings.
Breakfast the following morning was served at a time of our choosing and was well received.
All in all this was a great find and I would recommend the Farmyard Inn for a comfortable and friendly stay.

Only had 1 night at the Farmyard, wished it could have been more. We had stayed there before (4 years ago) and were worried it would still be as good. Not disappointed at all as it was miles better. Accommodation has been improved greatly, evening meal was delicious, we can recommend the steak - yummy and cooked to perfection. We do not have dogs, but love them and they are certainly welcome here. Fantastic value for money and a lot better then other places we have stayed at this year that charge much more. We will be back and hopefully this year as there is so much to see and do and walk locally.
