“Beautiful Peak District Cottage”
Reviewed 3 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We stayed at Overdale Cottage for a week in early February.

Despite experiencing all four seasons of weather in the space of a week we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily go again, hopefully with some sun so we could properly enjoy the views from the roof terrace!

Overdale cottage is traditional stone built, Peaks cottage set in a lovely village with easy access to so many walks, towns, pubs and other landmarks. We will be going again

“Gorgeous cottage in wonderful village”
Reviewed 10 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We had a fabulous time at the cottage in Youlgreave (or Youlgrave), Derbyshire. The view of the countryside from the cottage is amazing! The cottage was so cozy and the fireplace was wonderful. We hope to visit again!

“Cosy New Year getaway”
Reviewed 2 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

Me and my husband stayed in Overdale cottage between Christmas and for new year and it was a really relaxing getaway! The place itself was spotless and had everything we needed for cooking etc. The views and country side were stunning but unfortunately I am 6 months pregnant and couldn't handle the hills and steep walkways (I seem to have overlooked this when booking) which is why we marked it down slightly for location but that's my own fault and under different circumstances it was a prefect location. The trip was not spoiled at all by staying in as it was so lovely cosy and relaxing! The Farmyard Inn was a great eat out with a roaring fire, would love to visit again! The cottage owners were also lovely and very helpful when I managed to delete all of our booking details.

“Wonderful winter retreat!”
Reviewed 9 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

Excellent, cosy and quiet cottage, in a perfect location for people who like to walk their fury friends. Plenty to see and several different walks to chose from, Bakewell village only 3 miles away. Friendly locals with many pubs to chose from. Well furnished with everything you need. Amazing retreat for us and Charlie (the dog) will highly recommend to both friends and family.

“Wonderful location - perfect for Peak District access and relaxation”
Reviewed 24 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We chose Overdale for location and were more than rewarded with a very lovely spot and fine amenities. There was a generous amount of rain during our stay, but the cottage kept us dry and happy. Having a hot bath after a long long walk is a real treat as were the double rainbows right our our window!
The village was very welcoming and is alive. It appears to be a lovely survivor rather than a precious touristy enclave. Also, we favored the church above others in the area with its early Norman arches.

“Wonderful cottage in superb surroundings”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We just spent a wonderful week in Overdale Cottage. The cottage itself is very cosy and full of character, and the location is superb. It's position on a south-facing slope catches the sun and gives lovely views of the dale, especially from the roof terrace. It feels very remote but is only a short walk from three excellent pubs, and local shops. There are scenic walks from the door and attractions like Chatsworth and the town of Bakewell are only a short drive away. There's even a good buss service if don't want to drive!

To be fair it would not suit people with mobility problems (spiral staircase and steep access path from the road) and the on-street parking could be a problem at busy times. You can't have it all, but this cottage comes close!
