“Quiet cottage with stunning views - perfect peaceful country stay”
Reviewed 29 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

What a charming cottage - decorated to a high standard. Lovely, peaceful location with lots of surrounding countryside to ramble. Cottage had everything we needed for a completely enjoyable and peaceful stay. The neighbours on either side were lovely to chat to. NOTE: If you have trouble going up and down stairs, then this may not be the place for you, as clearly noted in the description. We found the steep pathway part of the charm of this rustic cottage stay and gave us a good workout. The Farmyard pub has the best food out of the 3 local pubs. The walks were stunning! We will definitely stay here again!

Yes, it is so nice to be located off the main road, and therefore closer to nature. The steep path has been used of course for hundreds of years and is the main walking path down. It's worth it once your there as you know! I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay, thank you

Stayed at this quaint, charming rustic cottage last week on a girlie break, loved it so much, that I am returning in September with my husband. Can't wait .The decor has been really considered thoughtfully to suit the old cottage. From colour of the walls, windows, furniture and pictures, to the quarry stone floor. And we just loved the old church pew.The new bathroom was a treat. The area and location is stunning. We sat outside on the patio area, in the sunshine with a glass of wine, looking at the view over the pretty valley. Bliss. We enjoyed the great walks, exploring the village, and eating in the pubs. See you in September lovely cottage !

“Well appointed cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 16 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed at the cottage with our 2 boys aged 5 and 9. The walk to the cottage is a little steep but it was all part of the adventure. The cottage is very well maintained and has everything that you could need. The kitchen is well equipped and there was even a bottle of wine waiting for us. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the kids loved the fossils in the bathroom tiles. At the bottom of the garden is a lovely stream and designated swimming area that the kids made good use of. The wood burning fire helped us to warm up again after! The garden is very peaceful and we spent an evening on the patio watching all of the birds visiting the garden. A great cottage we would certainly stay again.

Thank you! we certainly welcome adventurous kids who embrace the surrounding landscape, nature and the river itself of course (for a paddle, a fish or a swim). I do say over 5's because of the steep terrain, and i do appreciate it can be a slog with heavy bags from parking at the top! (so pace yourselves) Good thing is once in the cottage, you're already two thirds of the way to the river so you can just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds all around. Glad you did,- it can be magical. See you again and thanks again!

“Lovely peaceful location”
Reviewed 9 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

A delightfully bijou and compact cottage overlooking the beautiful river Bradford set above one of the most picturesque valley walks in Derbyshire. Nicely decorated and well equipped the accommodation provides almost everything you would need for a child-free short comfortable stay in this lovely part of the country. Blessed with a pleasant garden for a drink before dinner or even alfresco dining if you are lucky enough, like us, to have warm sunshine. If more typical Derbyshire weather then the log burner is a delightful compensation.
Three local pubs, a deli, bakery and post office in the village provide for most immediate needs. However, be prepared for a precipitous walk from the nearest car parking on the High street to the cottage. Not for the unfit, faint-hearted or the heavily laden.

Thanks, Yes it is perfect for a couple to cosy up here as it's not too big and yet not too small to feel cramped (as would maybe a one bed/ studio). It's all about the location here too, glad you used the patio and garden for an extra alfresco room with a view.

“Extremely steep path down”
Reviewed 7 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The cottage is OK and the owner was good at communicating and very informative - except in the description of the cottage on Holiday Lettings. If you are not fit (which we definitely aren't) then this is not the cottage for you. The car has to be left 200 plus yards/metres up an extremely steep path and whilst vaguely mentioned it is not explicitly detailed at the beginning of the description. Clearly I did not research the cottage enough - I have a damaged knee and I am reasonably mobile but the path was a major challenge for me. If you have significant baggage (we are on a 3 month trip) be aware you have to get it and your food supplies etc. down the steep uneven cobblestones. The internal stairs up to the bedrooms and bathroom are also narrow and steep. This cottage will obviously be a good retreat for many but just be aware of the access issues.

“Gorgeous hideaway with stunning views”
Reviewed 2 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Perfect cottage that feels like home, in the middle of the Peak District National Park with stunning views of the River. It nestles halfway down an incline that ultimately leads to the River and walking possibilities. The path, as it clearly states in the description, is for able walkers but even so it is a short ten minute walk to the other end of the village which offers a butchers, bakery, post office etc. Cooking facilities are great and the beautifully furnished cottage feels lived in and comfortable. Ready to start your holiday the minute you arrive, complete with log burner and cosy bedrooms. Don't think twice about booking.

If you need a quiet place with gorgeous views and a log fire to cozy up in front of. ...then look no further. This is a stylish country retreat with fabulous local references in the decor. And the beds are comfortable (no cutting corners on quality here! ). Plus the path to the property is a small adventure in itself - especially good for walkers and those seeking something of the main tourist route.
