I like going to this pub for food as it is consistently good in a relaxed atmosphere. Family friendly, kids of all ages are not an issue. If you are 13+ then I would suggest trying one of the side rooms as these seem quieter.

We booked this break as we wanted somewhere that was reasonably priced and did great food. We were not disappointed. Customer service is excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the attentive staff. The food was delicious. The place had a lovely buzzy feel to it without being too loud. We will return .

Fantastic food is a beautifully located english gastro pub! Try the chicken Burger if you're hungry! Enough food to feed an army! Beautiful sunny day so we made the most of it by sitting out in the large garden. Lovely accommodating staff and a great day had by all!

Had a two-night stop-over here recently.
The bedroom was well appointed with an abundance of welcome facilities - including fresh milk from a fridge along the creaking corridor and some old Country Life magazines to fall asleep over.
We decided to dine in the restaurant on the first night and skip along to The Lifeboat Inn on our second night. However, the R&C food and service was suffuciently impressive for us to bale out of dining along the road at The Lifeboat Inn and we ate in-house again in The Rose and Crown.
Sorry, Marco Pierre - we will pop in later in the year.
Breakfast on both mornings were worth sacrificing a lie-in.
This place does live up to its Daily Telegraph write-up - worth giving it a go.

We have stayed several times over the years and have always had a great time
Bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped and thought through, someone has taken the time to iron out the silly little niggles that can spoil a room so expect a socket and a mirror so girls can dry their hair, nice toiletries and ample tea and coffee !
There is a playground for kids outside and you can eat and drink in areas away from the two bars.
The bars are buzzy and fun, locals and residents all seem to enjoy.
The food is fabulous but portions can be huge so it's worth checking so you don't get overrated
The staff are easily the best bit of the whole place, friendly, efficient and everyone seems to enjoy being there and take a lot of pride in what they do.
Top tips: don't get a room above the bar if you plan to go to bed before closing time as it is a vibrant and real pub so expect chatter
It is an old building with low ceilings and one really steep staircase so be prepared to take the long way round if you don't fancy the climb!
Despite the beds being really comfortable and the bar being conducive to late nights make sure you get up for breakfast as it is a delight.

Room Tip: Check for evening noise and headroom if such things bother you !

Stayed for a short 1 night break in The Staircase room. Quirky but pleasant. A nice bathroom attached down the stairs! Small fridges located upstairs to enable guests to get fresh milk for drinks, we liked that. We ate in the restaurant, good food and tasty. Breakfast was nice too. We liked the decor and feel of the place, welcoming but not over the top. A sister place to The Bank House in Kings Lynn which we have stayed at many times. Alas now getting quite expensive, this may be the alternitive.

A visit to the Rose and Crown was recommended to me and due to its various accolades I was looking forward to my trip here.
We arrived to a very busy pub- too busy to find any room. This is a sign of its popularity and no criticism can be levied. Good atmosphere.
Good service, though we were disappointed we couldn't order food at 9.10pm as service stops at 9. This is understandable but after putting several large rounds through the till over a period of a few hours we perhaps expected to be accommodated a little more having clearly dedicated our evenings and wallets to the venue.
Idyllic setting and tastefully decorated.

Dear UKfowler

Thank you for your review of your visit to The Rose & Crown. I am so glad you enjoyed your evening, and that you liked the very unique feel of The Rose & Crown. I am sorry we couldn't find you a room, but we do get very booked up. I am sorry too that you were not able to order something to eat, it sounds as though someone forgot to warn you of the time for last food orders. I hope we will be able to welcome you to The R&C another time, and you will be able to sample proper R&C cooking.

Best wishes

Jeannette
