The Ship Hotel

Yesterday myself and my family went to Norfolk for the day to celebrate a family birthday. We have been to the Ship for a few meals before and really enjoyed the times we had been there, so therefore decided to go again.
Firstly when we arrived we told a waitress that we had booked a table for 6 and she replied with "Yes its ready for you" then walked off and we weren't sure what was going on. We decided to get some drinks from the bar and no one really helped us promptly. When we finally got taken to our table we were not given the sandwich lunch menu and therefore I had to get it myself. The waitress who served us, (not sure if she was the manager) was not at all friendly and for the price of the food the standard of service did not match at all.

The food we had was nice but the service did affect the enjoyment of the overall meal.

We stayed 3 nights bed and breakfast with our two pet dogs. From first arriving we could not have been treated better. Room 4 is really stylish and the roll top bath a real treat. It was great to be able to sit in comfort with our pets at breakfast and for our evening meal (there are tables designated for dog guests) and what a lovely touch for our dogs to receive a freshly prepared sausage each for breakfast served with such style by the manager! The walks in the vicinity of the hotel are lovely and we saw seals down on the beach which was a bonus. The housekeeping staff are brilliant and do a great job. We were shown around some of the other rooms and I cannot imagine any being a disappointment. We shall return.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the main road but the road is fairly quiet at night and did not cause us a probl...

I have recently returned from a fantastic four night stay at The Ship. Nothing was too much trouble and everything about the hotel from customer service to the decor was of a very high standard. I would absolutely recommend it

Had a night here a few weeks ago, we couldn't ask for more. Room was great, staff were very friendly (even to our dog), food was delicious, and apparently the beer was great (according to my husband!). Will definitely return

6 of us stayed one night at the end of March and from the minute we arrived the staff were very welcoming. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable and had tea & coffee making facilities. We were also given an upgrade on one of the rooms. Had a great evening meal in the restaurant, everyone was happy with their choices. They even brought us a bottle of bubbly, on the house, as we were celebrating a special occasion and shortbread with 'happy birthday' written in chocolate on the plate! The hotel had a lovely relaxed feel and is in a great position for exploring this beautiful part of North Norfolk.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 & 2 have an outer hallway door you can lock and a shared balcony for warm evenings.

We we're given a groupon voucher for a midweek stay here in March. It is the most characterful and one of the most pleasant hotel stays I've ever experienced. The room was clean and modern. We were 'in the roof' as it were with exposed beams and warm lighting adding to that cosy feeling. The staff were really nice, happy to help at all times and did not treat us any different because we had used a voucher (in fact it was only mentioned at check-in and that was that). Unfortunately only being in Brancaster for 1 night we dined at another restaurant down the road, however the breakfast was unbelievable. Every little detail right down to the proper filter coffee and local produce in the breakfasts was fantastic. Even the tea/coffee in the bedrooms was of way more quality than I'm used too and the flapjacks instead of biscuits were a nice touch. I would happily stay here again in a heartbeat and will certainly be seriously considering it on our next trip to Norfolk.
