We returned to the White Horse for our honeymoon. Once again the room was spacious and appealing although there was a bit more kitchen noise and door banging than we had experienced in the past (room 9). There was also the rather annoying hum of what appeared to be an extractor fan!!! This continued all night!!!!!!!!! Room service was very good and food excellent in the restaurant although the bar food lacked finesse and could have been better. Our room unfortunately was not vaccumed and we had to continually request new supplies of toiletries which should have been replaced daily by the housekeeping staff. Breakfast was very enjoyable, a very good choice on the menu. The glass of champagne was a very nice touch on arrival and the staff were always willing to assist, in fact the standard of service appeared to have improved since our last visit.

Frequent visitor to both the area and this pub, have stayed here before when all was good, so recent experience tremendously disappointing. The problem is they seem to have stopped thinking about doing the the basics to ensure a customer has an enjoyable experience. Specifically, they seem to have developed a bizarre set of rules for what food you can eat, from which menu, in which part of the premises, at different times of day. Even though the three eating areas are 20 metres apart. Worse, it's also now managed to hire a staff who apply these rules with a surly attitude. We visited at the end of a bank holiday weekend and I've no doubt that serving bank holiday tourists can get tedious but, you know...that comes with the territory.

So (stay with me, it's complicated): there are three menus: terrace, bar, restaurant. We're sitting on the terrace. First, we're told that the restaurant menu is not available on the terrace, ever, full stop. It was not explained why - the two areas are separated by a pane of glass, but whatever, we move on. So now we're down to the terrace menu and the bar menu. Now, for no reason other than we're sitting on the terrace, we are told we have 4 mins if we want to order ANY food off EITHER menu (of course, it was 5.56, what were we thinking). And we must place that order in the bar. So, off we trot to place the order in the bar before the arbitrary 6.00pm deadline. When we get there, we're then told that we can't actually order food from the bar menu if you want to eat it on the terrace, at any time. Understand that the food is not actually going to stop being cooked at that time - you just can't order it if you want to sit on the terrace, 20 meters from the bar.

So if we want to remain on the terrace, we've got 45 seconds to review the menus again and change our order. Because of course the order MUST be placed by 6.00pm. Or, we can keep our original order but relocate 20 metres into the bar. The one thing that isn't possible is to cook the food and turn left out of the kitchen (to the terrace) instead of right (to the bar).

None of this makes any sense of course, which is disappointing enough on its own, but the blank surliness that came with it...well, end of story. We will not return. What is really annoying is that this is not some complex complaint about the wine being served 1 degree too warm or whatever: this is about the total basics of running any kind of pub or restaurant. Serving food in one part of the pub instead of another - seriously?! It will be interesting to see if management or ownership care - they should, they have much too much competition in the area to be this complacent.

What an amazing place! We went for a large family meal for 12; we sat in the conservatory overlooking the beautiful scenery of the Norfolk coast. The staff were fantastically attentive and always on hand when we needed. The food was absolutely first rate, you would not get better at a top London restaurant. The wine list was good and not over-priced. I had the oysters starter - they were without doubt THE BEST OYSTERS I'VE EVER HAD - perfectly fresh, apparently picked from the marshy seashore at the bottom of the garden. The fish main course was expertly done, and the puddings excellent! The only criticism around the table was that the chocolate mousse had rather too much alcohol in it. Not everyone's idea of a criticism! We will definitely be going back, the White Horse is excellent.

This was our second visit here and we were not disappointed.

We just had sandwiches and chips but it was all delicious. We had our daughter with us and couldn't see a children's menu but to be fair we didn't ask for one but they do tapas and the haddock and cheese pasty was perfect for our two year old who wolfed it down.

Daughter and husband had ice cream for pudding and that was a little expensive for what they got but otherwise the food is lovely and good value.

We sat inside this time and it was nice but got very busy. The first time we went we sat outside at the back and enjoyed views over the salt marshes. Would recommend a visit.

We limited ourselves to the bar menu and found the seafood platter really excellent. Good, friendly service (and free wi-fi access). No direct experience of the accommodation but some rooms have stunning views to the sea.
