We had been on the beach, walking all day so hadn't booked but managed to get a table on the terrace overlooking the inlet. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. I had dressed crab which was excellent and served with new potatoes and salad and a glass of wine. Icecream to follow and I felt that I had a real seaside supper.

Having walked along the Norfolk coastal path, my wife and I had an early evening meal at the White Horse. It has such a great location and you are able to simply walk into their grounds which directly connect with the coastal path. We ate outside on the elevated terrace which has superb views across the marshes. We have eaten there before when we had tapas but, until last weekend, I didn't realise that they have a relatively good menu available on the terrace. My wife had a "super foods" salad but I was in the mood for a burger. Both meals were excellent and my burger was delicious and piping hot, probably the best burger which I have had in a long time. Slight mix-up with our drinks which didn't appear but were delivered promptly after a reminder. We have eaten on many occasions in the restaurant but, in the summer, it is hard to beat relaxing on the terrace.

Been meaning to write this for a couple of weeks - thought we would take a trip up to Brancaster Staithe to the White Horse as we had family staying and the view is to die for
Always something not quite right on the few occasions we have visited over the years - eg veg on the plate which should have been in the bin, pizza for the kids which no one cut through (including the waiter) but this was the worst
My husband ordered the pork - after a couple of bites he noticed it had blood in it
We called the waitress over who then summoned who I suppose was the head of house who proceeded to explain to us that it was fine as it had been slow cooking all night
She just didn't get it that the meat wasn't cooked and had actually been incubating all night - what about tape worm not to mention food poisoning we muttered
She eventually offered him something else so he opted for fish and chips ; 5 minutes later the same girl came over and asked what he would like
Need less to say we watched lots of fish and chips come out of the kitchen but by the time my husband's arrived the rest of us had finished our meals
Don't think we will be venturing up there again

Wonderful views over the marshes in the conservatory restaurant especially when the sun shines and the tide is in. Need to book as at this time of the year it's full of tourists. Good service by friendly staff. Excellent starters (try the oysters in tempura ) and main courses especially the fish but would complain about the high priced wine list, eg a bottle of Pinot Grigio at £ 23.50 is taking liberties. Nice outside seating area too where watching the sun go down over the marshes with a nice drink & tapas is a great experience.

We visited for a special lunch on Saturday, but after the service, I will think twice about returning again. The restaurant was busy, and we were seated by the window, as requested, so full marks for that. The waitress asked if we'd like water on the table, yet we had to ask for it 3 more times before it arrived. We were given the menus, but were told that no specials were available (unusual for this restaurant) so we asked if we could order from the bar menu too, the waitress had to check, and then returned and said 'only the burger', although it turned out we could have ordered other items. We had to go up and ask for more drinks, as we just seemed to be forgotten, even though we had quite a big table. The food was OK, nothing special - the seafood platter was not enough for a main course, the lamb steak was mostly chips. When we came to settle up, we paid in cash, and even though we would have left a reasonable tip, the change just didn't ever arrive...perhaps the waitress wasn't taking any chances, knowing her service was somewhat lacking!!! There are other great places around the coast which don't rely on their reputation alone.
