“Wonderful B&B in a quaint town”

We only stayed one night on our way to London from Edinburgh.Definitely would stay again.Quaint, picturesque town;lodgings located right across from the James Herriot museum. The building was very old with crooked floors and low doorways which added to it's charm but it did not lack in any modern amenities and was beautifully appointed. We received a lovely full English breakfast and was tended to by our unobtrusive but thorough hostess. A lovely lodging in a lovely town.

The Gallery is in a brilliant location in the middle of Thirsk. It is almost directly opposite the James Herriot Museum on a street of lovely houses. In spite of that it is easy to park and we enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep. Our room was beautifully furnished and the bathroom was spacious and well stocked with lovely soap, shampoo and hand cream etc. The choice ofcoffee/tea in the room was good and there was plenty of it. Free newspapers and DVDs were on hand and there was a well stocked library.

The house has a lovely atmosphere and we were made to feel really welcome but wthout feeling that Kathryn was intrusive. The choice of menu at breakfast and the quality fo the food was simply excellent. It is not surprising that The Gallery is popular and I would recommend it to anybody.

I stayed at the gallery over the weekend 31st July 1st August with my horse racing mate from Leeds. We were amazed by the accomodation, everything was 'top shed' the owners were very attentive and extremely polite and helpful. Breakfast was especially good with lashings of hot toast and gorgeous fresh fruit we tried to book in for the two weekend race meetings in 2011, but only managed to secure one. They were already full for the other, that did not suprise me at all, best place i have stayed in at thirsk by a long way, i will try to book for 2012, this place is an undiscovered diamond, get yourselves booked in.

Only stayed for one night as at friends wedding. We asked to book in before normal time 1pm and this was no problem, very friendly very clean, didn't sleep too well but that was just because it was one of those nights with no breeze. Bed was comfy and lovely. Breakfast was really good fresh fruit cocktail, jam and toast then full english yummy. Would definatley stay again.

My husband and I spent a night at The Gallery while on our honeymoon. It was perfect and everything we had hoped it would be. The location is ideal, the proprietors are friendly and professional, the room was well appointed, and the breakfast - oh, the breakfast - was scrumptious. I would go back JUST for the breakfast!!! We certainly would like to go back. It was tops!

I'm actually writing this review on behalf of my parents whom i booked into the Gallery for a night as part of a surprise 45th anniversary present. I was of course hoping it would be a lovely place to stay and i had searched the internet for the perfect place. I was much relieved when I received numerous text messages from them telling me what a beautiful place the Gallery was, what a plesant and welcoming reception they'd received on their arrival, how clean and homely the place was, that they need not have packed any toiletries, how much choice the tea tray offered and so on.......... they were over the moon to say the least. Breakfast was delicious, lots of choice and lots of information regards the produce they use. My parents had a truly wonderful stay at the Gallery and would reccommend it most highly. They stayed in room no3 and they thought they couldn't have had a better time in a 5 star hotel, they even received a card and a small box of chocs to wish them a happy anniversary!
My parents ate in the local Indian restaurant that evening and said it was a delicious meal but told me The Gallery is happy for you to consume your own food in their dining room in an evening which is wonderful if you have a tight budget or young children to consider.
We give this B&B a very big thumbs up.

I came to Yorkshire on a James Herriott pilgramige and spent a week in the Gallery B&B directly across the street from James Herriotts' surgery/home/museum. I have traveled all over the world and I tell you this is the BEST, MOST WELCOMING place to stay that I have EVER experienced!! Kathryn and Steve are the kindest hosts I have ever had the privilege to meet. I cannot say enough about the Gallery and the hosts. they are fabulous!! They made my stay better than I ever dreamed it could be.
