“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013

We have watched episodes of All Creatures Great and Small more than once so we decided to make a nostalgic trip to the museum on a Sunday morning. We weren't too sure what to expect but we got a two for one entrance with the James Herriot app so we figured if we didn't like it we weren't out of pocket too much. We ended up spending an enjoyable two hours in the museum. There was a re-creation of the house/vet surgery as well as lots of background information on Alf Wight and how the books came about. There was also a room with the sets from the TV show and all the old video equipment. Looking at the old video recorders and cameras was a trip down memory lane for me. I'm sure anyone who works in the field of veterinary medicine will enjoy the display of the old equipment. There was something for all ages in the museum. The museum staff (like everyone else we met in Thirsk) were very friendly and informative.

Visited with my wife daughter her husband and girls aged 3 and 5 We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I kept us all entertained for over 2 hours. The hands on exhibits were much enjoyed by "children" of all ages. Recommend without hesitation.

Travelled from Norfolk for 3 day break, well worth the visit, very informative with lots of history. The staff are very knowledgable and more than happy to answer any questions. This is a must see atttaction for any true James Herriot fans, the gift shop is also excellent, nothing is over priced unlike some attractions. Now looking forward to doing the Herriot tour tomorrow.
