Where do I start? Pure luxury. Catherine there to meet us on arrival, very welcoming and always on hand when/if needed. Welcome basket was a great touch and sweets for the kids and wine for the adults. Kitchen had everything and more. Hot tub perfect. Catherine even cooled it down slightly for the kids for the last evening so they could stay in longer.
The 3D tv was also a big hit too.
Bathroom very luxurious with double shower and jets and the Molten brown and Temple Spa toiletries were perfect.
The grounds are very well maintained with attention to detail very important to the owners. A lovely seated area on the lawn was perfect whilst the kids played ball games.
A very secure area with locked security gates so no worries about kids exploring the grounds.
We went next door to the caravan park and kids played on play area and football field whilst we enjoyed a coffee in the coffee shop. The ice cream there was also a big plus.
We went to the Forresters Arms in kilburn for an evening meal which was beautiful. All home cooked and of really good quality and good value for money. The Trivial pursuit questions on the table kept the kids occupied.
The Magic Wok Chinese takeaway in Thirsk also provided us with a lovely takeaway in 1 of the evenings.
The perfect place for quality family time and to recharge batteries away from the stresses of everyday life. Thank you so much and we will definitely return.
Me, my new husband and our 6 year old, Lewie spent Easter weekend in the Blacksmiths cottage for our minimoon.
The cottage is luxurious, homely and has everything you could need. It was spotlessly clean. Catherine met us on arrival, she is the perfect host and had gone to the trouble of collecting leaflets of things we may like to do with Lewie. She is so thoughtful that she left champagne and a balloon to celebrate our wedding and an Easter egg and chocolate for Lewie. The welcome basket is a lovely touch. We made use of the hot tub and the 3d tv. Cannot recommend the barns enough. Truly lovely break. Thank you Catherine.
Very clean and tidy. Catherine and her husband Dave were very welcoming. Everything was of a very high standard. We will return one day.
The cottage is like a Tardis, you step straight into the lounge area, then the rooms appear. Very tastefully decorated (and clean !) with everything you need, ie Kitchen has all the 'stuff' you need. Welcome pack includes flapjacks and home made bread.
The location allows you to get to Sutton Bank, Kilburn and Thirsk within minutes.
We enjoyed morning tea on the garden lawn and took dinner there one night.
The hosts are welcoming and are on hand should you need anything (what i do not know as it was all there !)
We visited Thirsk as my wife is fan of the TV show The Yorkshire Vet, and she was made up she met Peter Wright.
We would visit again in the future as there is so much to see and location/cottage is excellent.
Just spent 4 nights in the delightful Blacksmiths cottage. The owners are some of the nicest people you could wish to come across. The cottage is beautiful with quality everywhere you look. Never before have I stayed anywhere so well equipped!! It's in a fantastic location just outside Thirsk yet only half an hour away from York . Will most definitely return soon
I visited the barns with my two boys (9&11) they loved the hot tub and wifi of course, it was a stunning barn and in a perfect location, very peaceful yet close to a lot of attractions. The welcome basket was a lovely personal touch, I would definitely recommend the barns to people of all ages
Best cottage we have stayed in. It was quite and peaceful the hot tub was amazing and Cathrine the owner was so friendly and helpful
