“Another wonderful week at The Mistal”

We returned to The Mistal for another holiday, after a very enjoyable break there last year. The house is very comfortable, stylish, warm and well equipped, and has everything you need. Karen, Geoff and Tangles the dog made us so welcome, and it was great to be back. A very generous welcome pack was an unexpected treat! The land surrounding the house is looking good, with many new additions since our last visit, including a playground, which will be great for families with young children. Waking up to a view of the beautiful lake, fields and horses beyond, was a real joy. The setting is peaceful and quiet. We had a very enjoyable meal at The Dog and Gun. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back next year! Thank you.

“Far exceeding our expectations,”
Reviewed 10 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

The Mistal is a two bed barn conversion set in the quiet village of Knayton. Initially we thought to use this as a base, but the standard of the property was so high and provided a warm comfortable space we found our evenings were often spent around the table playing the much appreciated board games provided. On arrival, Karen had provided a welcome hamper not only with essentials but little treats this was a much appreciated personal touch. Karen and Jeff have considered and met every need we had throughout our stay.
Just a short walk from the Mistal is the Dog and Gun pub, (book in advance for evening meals) again we were made welcome by the host and locals alike, a definite must.
We will definitely be booking again and look forward to enjoying Jeff and Karen's hospitality at Old Low Moor Farm.

“Another Wonderful Visit”
Reviewed 9 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We visited for a second time and had another wonderful weekend. The house is still welcoming as are the owners. The welcome pack was a lovely gift filled with local produce. Everything is spotlessly clean and so comfortable. This time we were also able to make use of the outdoor space. We will return.

“Wonderful property, Lovely owners Great location.”
Reviewed 21 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Welcomed by Geoff, very friendly co owner and shown round accommodation. Settled in and restocked fridge which already had a two pint bottle of milk included, very thoughtful after a journey and shops which are a little way out, in fact the property is very well stocked with everything you might need even down to sauces to enhance a meal! Karen and Geoff are the perfect property owners and provide almost everything you might need, tennis court and fishing are literally on your doorstep! We will definitely be rebooking, it's child and pet friendly, couples, family and group visits are all catered for or will be in the coming months, a true home from home in our case( three adult family members).

“Great cottage, charming owners, great location”
Reviewed 14 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The Mistal is one of 3 cottages that have been superbly restored by Karen and (particularly) Jeff, consisting of a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining area/living-room with attached downstairs loo/cloakroom and 2 double ensuite bedrooms. Fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard and the beds were a joy to sleep in.
If you re interested in tennis or fishing, then bring your gear, it s all onsite.
Karen & Jeff's welcome pack was very welcome as was their help and advice throughout our stay.

“5* Holiday Cottage - you will not be disappointed!”
Reviewed 27 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We have recently returned from a wonderful 5 night stay at the Mistal. From start to finish we could not have asked for more. The property was easy to find from the excellent directions provided by Karen and Jeff prior to our arrival and we were met by Karen and their dog Tangles as we pulled into our parking space. Karen showed us around and made us feel very welcome. She pointed out the grounds of Old Low Moor Farm including the stables, fishing lake and playground which holiday makers are invited to use. The setting of the farm is absolutely beautiful and tranquil, with views of the hills from the bedroom.

We have a young daughter so were a little apprehensive about the spectacular open wooden staircase before arriving but we needn't have worried! Karen and Jeff had installed two stair gates before we arrived and even provided a cot bed and bedding for our toddler. There were a few toys and books for her too and a highchair could have been provided if we had needed it. There was also a great selection of board games in the cupboard.

The property has been renovated to a very high standard, with beautiful fixtures and fittings and high quality soft furnishings etc. It really made it feel like a holiday to relax in such a luxurious place. Karen had also provided a lovely welcome hamper with some essentials and Yorkshire goodies for us to enjoy. It was a lovely and thoughtful touch.

If you are thinking of booking the Mistal, do not hesitate. You will not be disappointed!
