The Mistal never disappoints as it is a beautiful cottage in a lovely location but it is made special by the many extra touches. Not only is there a very tasty welcome hamper but also everything you could possibly need for a fabulous break.

Many thanks to Karen and Jeff for making us so welcome on our third visit. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

“Best cottage we've stayed in yet!”

If this cottage has appeared in your list of considerations I'd urge you to book it. It is beautifully decorated with many additional touches that make it stand out from the opposition. The welcome hamper is delicious! Not only that but the owners Karen and Jeff couldn't be more helpful. They accommodated our bikes in a locked outhouse and showed us where we could wash them down when we arrived back from a particularly muddy ride! There is loads to explore in the area including York, Whitby and the Yorkshire Moors and if it's cycling you enjoy you can head straight out for some excellent cycling on wonderfully quiet roads. We don't normally return to the same area but we will definitely be coming back here. Thank you Karen and Jeff for a wonderful week.

“Another wonderful week at The Mistal”

We returned to The Mistal for another holiday, after a very enjoyable break there last year. The house is very comfortable, stylish, warm and well equipped, and has everything you need. Karen, Geoff and Tangles the dog made us so welcome, and it was great to be back. A very generous welcome pack was an unexpected treat! The land surrounding the house is looking good, with many new additions since our last visit, including a playground, which will be great for families with young children. Waking up to a view of the beautiful lake, fields and horses beyond, was a real joy. The setting is peaceful and quiet. We had a very enjoyable meal at The Dog and Gun. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back next year! Thank you.

“Far exceeding our expectations,”
Reviewed 10 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

The Mistal is a two bed barn conversion set in the quiet village of Knayton. Initially we thought to use this as a base, but the standard of the property was so high and provided a warm comfortable space we found our evenings were often spent around the table playing the much appreciated board games provided. On arrival, Karen had provided a welcome hamper not only with essentials but little treats this was a much appreciated personal touch. Karen and Jeff have considered and met every need we had throughout our stay.
Just a short walk from the Mistal is the Dog and Gun pub, (book in advance for evening meals) again we were made welcome by the host and locals alike, a definite must.
We will definitely be booking again and look forward to enjoying Jeff and Karen's hospitality at Old Low Moor Farm.
