Hollow Log Estate

We stayed here over a long winter weekend. We chose Daylesford as it was under 2 hours away from Melbourne, and our two dogs are not good travellers. The property is 5 minutes drive away from Daylesford town centre. It is just off the main road, so it was easy to find, and yet feels tucked away. We stayed at the "Cottage". The Cottage has two bedrooms, and came with all the amenities including a much needed washing machine. The house was kept warm by the wonderful wood fire stove. Our dogs had a fabulous time. There is an exercise yard that is enclosed. Beyond this area, there is a large paddock that they just loved, including a small dam.The property also backs on to a national park, and we took the dogs on walks through forested areas, the dogs had such fun exploring. There was an outside dog's bath provided. I know our dogs really appreciated that it had warm water! For the humans, we appreciated all the lovely treats such as the bottle of wine, the chocolates and the nice breakfast hamper.

I stayed with my cousin, her husband, two young children and 5 month old puppy.
We arrived at night so had no idea what to expect when we awoke in the morning, but were more than pleased. The views were stunning and the gardens are kept beautifully. There is a huge exercise area for dogs, ideal for big and small dogs.
We stayed in the two bedroomed, which was very nicely decorated with a nice wood burning stove; it had the warmth of a family home and was fully equipt. The extra touches include the dog bowls, pooh bags, dog biscuits, bread, milk and a bottle of wine, all there waiting at our arrival. A lot of thought has gone into ensuring the property is safe for dogs so the veranda has been dog proofed to ensure little dogs can't get out unless allowed.
The owner, Ali and her partner live in the property next door and are very helping and friendly without being intrusive. They are more than happy to allow children to help with feeding the sheep and chickens. It is also a photographers heaven in Autumn..... The colours were stunning!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and can not recommend it enough for couples (in the studio) and families, especially those with dogs. A very special setting which I would love to bring my own dog to.

We've just returned aft staying 4 nights at Hollow Log Estate in the Cottage and we couldn't speak more highly about the experience.

The Cottage itself is about 7km out of Daylesford towards Ballarat. The rural setting is divine, both the farming and wooded areas. The Cottage is a two bedroomed self contained accommodation with a well secured veranda looking out over paddocks.

Inside is wonderfully decorated in a modern country style. The living & kitchen area are large, bright & welcoming. The kitchen itself is well kitted out with everything you could possibly need, including a large dining table that was perfect for board games. The bedrooms are both well sized, beds comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom is large, well equipped and clean. It also includes a front loading washing machine and laundry facilities.

We travelled with our very large dog, a St Bernard, and he was welcome inside the cottage. We were able to leave him secure on the veranda when we went into town for the bush dance. There is a large paddock, secured as a dog exercise yard, including doggie bags, balls and water tank. There's also a dam for the dogs to swim in.

The gardens are beautiful, well maintained, really pleasant for a morning walk.

We were welcomed to our unit by Ali, one of the owners, who was lovely, unobtrusive yet helpful. We had a breakfast pack that included fresh eggs from the estate's chickens, tomatoes, home made bread, milk and fruit juice. There's also an espresso machine in the kitchen, so breakfast was really something.

We had travelled up for the Chillout Festival (regional LGBTI festival I in Daylesford). Very gay friendly etc.

Really couldn't speak more highly of our stay. We'll definitely be back. Thanks again.

Myself and my girlfriend and our dog spent a weekend in Hollow Log Stoney - the little stone 1 bedroom cottage. It was fantastic - cosy and clean with the fire burning on our arrival and farm eggs, bread, wine and dog treats waiting for us! Our dog particularly loved romping through the fields every day. Can't wait to go back.
