On a cool winter's day and with a healthy appetite, we were lucky enough to stumble upon this charming and cosy retreat with its open fire, polished floors and welcoming staff. We simply couldn't fault our lunch here ... except perhaps that we couldn't try more things on the menu, as it all looked sooooo good and the choosing was difficult! The ambience is just perfect - elegantly understated but very fine, and the service is perfect - thank you Marie, for making our lunch so special. The food is amazing - fabulous flavours and stunningly presented. The seared kangaroo with black quinoa pilaf was a blaze of unusual colours and tempting tastes; the lamb loin married brilliantly with its accompanying creamed lentils and kipfler potatoes. We enjoyed an excellent local wine by the glass and ended with good coffee ... regretfully we just couldn't manage any of the delicious sounding desserts this time. Ours was the Autumn 2014 menu but I'm confident it would be exceptional dining all year round, year after year, no matter what you choose. The prices are what you would expect for such an outstanding, high-end experience but they represent good value nonetheless. We will definitely go back.
