“A great place for a short break”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

It was our second visit to Peppers in Hepburn Springs for a weekend and it didn't disappoint. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. The recent facelift had brought some changes that are very refreshing. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the restaurant, well worth a visit. We treated ourselves to a Mineral Spa package and massage, followed by High Tea - what a treat! We highly recommend it to anyone who would like a relaxing break! We certainly will be returning again.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are spacious. if you would enjoy a private bath rather than spa treatments, conside...

Thank you for your feedback. We love to hear that our guests enjoyed their time with us so much the first time that they returned again! We introduced ‘High Tea under The Arches’ in 2011 and it has been very popular with our guests. Our pastry Chefs take great care in preparing the bite sized petit fours and finger sandwiches so they were very pleased to hear of your feedback. We hope to see you again soon.

We booked into Peppers in Hepburn Springs for the night - it's a beautiful property, the renovation throughout the main historic building is gorgeous - a hopeful prelude of what was to come with our room.

Staff were lovely at check in and our breakfast in their cafe was great - even the coffee was good, which was a pleasant surprise.

We were booked into what they call a 'Contemporary Superior Room' - which turns out to be the bottom end of their "Spa Villas' - We couldn't easily find an image of the rooms on their website - just the description, which sounded great.

I honestly felt like we were in a Freedom Furniture showroom - no offence to Freedom furniture - but when you're paying $400 a night, we were so disappointed. There was barely a window to get some sort of view, just a thatched fence and a somewhat cramped, beige, dark room (with bad art). These separate units feel like an afterthought and not in line with the rest of the property. I'm all for contemporary - but 'Superior' it definitely isn't. After such a grand entrance to the property - there was just a huge inconsistency between what we first experienced and what we ended up with. We never got to see the rooms in the main building, but I would definitely recommend staying in the actual property and not these satellite buildings which are about 100m from the property.

We also unfortunately found a clump of long hair in the shower (not ours) - which was a shame.

Again, we really loved everything about our stay - except the room, so I'm torn if I'd recommend it to others. I think it would help if they reworked their website that actually shows room shots next to the descriptions, instead of a single pop-up gallery/overview of the entire place, would have informed our decision on what would best suit our taste.

Room Tip: Definitely do a bit of research and I wouldn't recommend the 'Contemporary Superior Rooms...

Thank you for you feedback. We appreciate all feedback, either critical or favourable, as it helps us to continually improve our service. We are certainly sorry to hear that you did not like your room style. We find that some guests prefer the modern style of the contemporary superior rooms and Spa Villas, whereas others prefer the heritage features and style of our rooms in the main building.
We have taken your feedback onboard regarding the room images on our website and I am pleased to advise that we are in the midst of updating our website with images of all of our room types.
We were glad to hear that you enjoyed all other aspects of your stay and hope that you experience will not deter you from visiting us again in the future.

My wife and I just returned from two nights staying at Peppers in Hepburn Springs. Had a wonderful time. We stayed Monday and Tuesday night 20 and 21st February. The room had a spa in it so we could relax whilst watching some television. We enjoyed the beautiful cuisine in the restaurants and had a Mineral Spa and Massage package that went for two hours. At night went for a quite walk through the town. Peppers staff ensure you have everything and are very attentive. Can thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: Go during the week. The town is so quite. No traffic. Most restaurants and shops are open but everyt...

Thanks for your feedback and for taking the time to post your review online. We are glad that you enjoyed the spa in your room! The oversized 2 person spa tubs are one of the key features of our Superior Rooms and Spa Villas. Good tip about visiting midweek also! Midweek is an ideal time to visit as the town is a lot quieter and you can really get the ‘country town’ feel that can be elusive on those much busier weekends.

Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves on offering the ideal venue for a romantic escape and are pleased to hear that you also enjoyed your treatments onsite at The Mineral Spa. We have only recently completed refurbishments to the main hotel building so your feedback is very welcome. We would love to see you return in the future and would recommend booking well in advance for Villa Parma!

Staying at Villa Parma was the next best thing to staying in an Italian Villa without having to travel to Italy. A beautiful original building with a well equiped kitchen to put together an Italian inspired feast for 8.
The outdoor areas and gardens are beautiful.
The staff at Peppers were also very attentive and helpful.
Have recommended to friends and will definately be back for another stay.

Room Tip: All 4 rooms are beautiful.

Thank you for your feedback. We were pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Villa Parma. Villa Parma was originally built in 1864 and was lovingly restored to its former glory in 2008. Great care was taken to retain its original heritage features and we are proud that this important piece of history can now be enjoyed by future generations. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you again in the future.

We read a few not so great reviews before we booked and were quite sceptical of what we would find on arrival, but our mid week stay turned out better than we had hoped for! We will absolutely be back!!!!!

We arrived at Peppers as the last day of a 2 week belated honeymoon and on the eve of our 3rd wedding anniversary. We booked at the last minute and stayed in a luxurious spa villa. It really is a home away from home with everything that a couple or a family would need for a short or long escape with expansive floor space over two levels that really gave us the privacy of a self-contained option with almost all the conveniences of a hotel.

We dined both days for lunch in the Conservatory. The food was fabulous and my husband was not disappointed by the desserts!

They arranged a special reservation for dinner for us at the local Lakehouse restaurant - a competitor to their very own Wild Birch restaurant and arranged a return taxi so that we could enjoy their selection of fine wine. We even received a table by the window on arrival where in the afternoon the local Kookaburra's fly in to be fed - my husband being french absolutely loved it!

The place was absolutely spotless and clean. All new appliances and cooking utensils, a fully stocked mini bar and champagne and wine in the fridge on arrival.

The reception spent the time to share their local knowledge of hikes and walking tracks to visit the local springs and even shared her favourite list of local restaurants. Unfortunately being a Wednesday many of these were not open.

The only downside is there was no room service for breakfast in bed and we had to get up and dine again in the Conservatory. However, the cuisine on offer both hot and continental dishes was worth the short walk from our villa.

On our last day, we also booked in for their spa services. We selected the Total Float & Relax package which included 60 mins Kodo massage delivered by a pair of very strong hands, 60 mins Body Signature Mineral Cocoon (on soft pack bed) (absolutely recommend!!!!), 60 mins pass to The Retreat where my husband and I had it entirely to ourselves. We relaxed in their
mineral water therapy zone where you have tucked away in a secluded, peaceful corner of the spa an indoor/outdoor Mineral Water therapy area with sundeck, guest lounge and open fireplace. Here we enjoyed two 37°-39° mineral water plunge spa pools to revive and relax our very stressed London bodies, and a cooler plunge pool that totally invigorates you. Apparently the transition from hot to cool stimulates the circulatory system, feeding nutrients to every organ and all the tissues of the body. Compared to the local Bath House, these covered spa pools and plunge pool are on the Retreat veranda, overlooking beautiful landscaped gardens so that you feel like you are outside but you have all the protection of being undercover. We were also able to look out and see wild cockatoos dining on the trees outside. A really Australian experience for my husband.

Then we had the saunas to experience...The lavender-infused basalt stone sauna is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere and as to be experienced to be believed. Here the hot rocks are plunged into the copper cauldron filled with essential oils. It takes a while to heat up, but the entire process is automated so that you don't have to keep tipping water on it yourself. Its a really relaxing and beautiful Japanese inspired sauna. From there we then stepped into the infrared detox box where gentle warmth apparently activates the body’s natural cleansing process. Personally I really enjoyed the wet steam room given our previous nights degustation menu at the Lakehouse with wine pairings and the need to detox. Finally we had a 45 min Mineral float facial on soft pack bed. This was much like the previous cocoon experience which my husband absolutely raved about. We left feeling so relaxed and revived - ready to face another cold bleak European winter!

Thanks to the Peppers team for this fabulous experience! The local manager who waved us goodbye with a cheery smile and cheeky comment as I reversed the vehicle from the driveway, to the fabulous waitress who gave us all her local recommendations that we followed to the T and to the great receptionist who met us on arrival. Finally an outstanding vote of thanks to the highly professional spa staff who could not have been more attentive during our therapies.

Room Tip: Book last minute for a better rate direct with the hotel not via their website.
