Taking into consideration they are completely off-grid, they do a convincing job of being a swinging pub. We were there for lunch. They had loud music, tvs blaring, lights everywhere, giant speakers surrounding a small empty dance floor. It felt like civilization. But I was in the secluded rainforest mood so we ate our good food and left. Incredibly, the food was tasty and generous. It was clearly geared as a young 18 to 20-something evening hangout. I would have hated to be in one of the nearby cabins… The staff seemed a bit exhausted, probably from the recent school holiday period – and likely a tad bit over dealing with drunken 18-year-olds. They had signs up that said something like, if you want to get burned, touch this hot water urn. Happy hour was on, it was a Saturday – pitchers of beer for $10. Lots of young-uns were wandering around with a full glass in one hand and a pitcher in the other. In short, if your 18, you’ll love it. If you’ve got small kids, expect to do some explaining… Also, as can be expected in the tropics, things were mossy and/or mouldy. The toilet doors were extraordinarily filthy.
