Host, Rob, has combined his skills as a builder and sculptor to design this wonderful rainforest retreat. Along with his local knowledge, and the location of Hideaway, it all adds up to a brilliant getaway. Coming from the frozen winter in Melbourne, I was relieved with the weather, obviously, and thought staying this far north would be more 'resorty' and pricier. So, to find such a unique place at very reasonable rates, was a Eureka moment. I'd definitely recommend this, and look forward to returning sometime soon.

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt I needed to tell others how good this place was. I also don't normally stay at B&B's, but this is not like any normal B&B. It didn't feel like a B&B at all. The would stay was unquie in a way I'm sure we would find anywhere else.

Things I liked the best-
* Outdoor private bathroom over looking the rainforest.
* The Sculpture trails thru the rainforest was amazingly beautiful.
* Room was very private & all handbuilt from the native rainforest timbers.
* Breakfast allowed us to try a number of local exotic fruits I have never tasted before, & I now have a new faviourate fruit.
* The owners were great fun to have a chat and drink with & had lots of information about the area.
* The price was about half what we were going to pay to stay in a EcoResort & this place was way more Eco & part of the rainforest than any resort we looked at.

I would never normally stay at a B&B, because we like our privacy, but this never felt like a B&B. Our room was private & secluded. We only seemed to see the owners when we needed them & when we wanted a drink and a chat they were the best of hosts.

To tell the truth initally my wife was very concerned about having an outdoor bathroom, but to me this was a great feature. But by the end of the stay even my wife admitted that it was one of the most enjoyable features. Talk about feeling at one with nature !!

Room Tip: We stayed in the bungalow.

The rainforest hideaway is the most unique places my wife and I have ever been. Very friendly host shows how it is possible to live comfortably in an area that doesn't have the same services provided by council as the most of Australia. The most relaxing bathroom I have ever been to anywhere. If you go to cape trib avoid the other resorts that are all somewhat the same (hard beds, limited maintenance) and stay at robs house and see what 20 years of dedication to Eco living can do to make you feel new again. You will be assured to experience native wildlife and exotic breakfast. Go there

A cassowary crossing the road welcomed ud on the way to this B&B. Located in the middle of the rain forest the place is outstanding. Everything has been built by the owner Dutch Rob and his artistry is just amazing. I would recommend the cabin with the open air bathroom facing the rain forest. Cute leaping frogs had to be expelled. Rob is very friendly and passionate and will answer to all your questions regarding the rain forest.
Do not miss the sculpture trail.-

My husband and i stayed for three nights in the roundhouse and loved every minute of it. Such an amazing experience to be in the rainforest and be able to relax and enjoy it rather than visit on a day bus tour and leave as the sounds of the forest through the night are fantastic. The accomodation offered more than we expected with hot water, drinking water and the best shower ever! We would definately come back if we had the chance. We visited from Scotland and are now the third couple from a small scuba diving club to have come and stayed and enjoyed it. One piece of advice is to arrive in the daylight simply to improve the wow factor (although there are no issues arriving after dark)
Thank you and we hope to see you again!

Room Tip: Do not stay if you are looking for a luxary resort hotel - this is a place for people who really wan...

Enchanting and magical the mix of art and the rainforest is amazing. You must go!
The service was fantastic - we felt right at home and the bathroom is quite spectacular!
Thoroughly recommend it and you must do the walk through the rainforest.
Great breakfast of local tropical fruit.

This was a great experience. You can't be closer to nature than this. The rainforest walk behind the B&B is really cool with some really cool sculputres. If you like being in the nature it's a definite must
