“Lovely views of the Daintree River”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

We had a premium room. It had a comfortable bed, bedside lamps, a bar fridge, airconditioner and ensuite. There is a flight of stairs down from the upper campground/carpark to the lodge, (just worth knowing if you have things to carry in and stairs are a problem.) The room opened onto the beautiful deck, and we could see the river from bed. There were only two other couples staying in the lodge on this evening so we had the verandah and kitchen practically to ourselves. It was a lovely spot to have a drink and watch the sunset over the river.

The kitchen contained all the necessary basic equipment, and has a full sized fridge, four burner gas cooktop and a microwave.

The shower was fantastic!

The only negative thing to mention was that the bioseptic system was a bit smelly. I'm not sure if there was just an issue with it at this particular time, or if that is always how it is. Ironically, I think the "Premium" rooms suffered worse from this than the standard rooms at the other end of the deck.

Room Tip: The Premium rooms do have a very good view of the river, but if you stayed in one of the other rooms...

Not very clean. Not enough kitchenware for everyone so we had to share 2 fourks n knifes between 4 people. Quite expensive for what u get really. Next time i ll spend $20 to $40 more per night to be in a nice resort. Only good thing is the view. The lodges need a good deep clean n prop some upgrade.

This was the perfect place to base ourselves as explored the Daintree. Sally and Peter were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Mum developed cellulitis in her ear after cutting it on the plane. Sally looked after us and helped us get it sorted as quickly as possible.

The room was small but that didn't matter as we were able to spend time on the balcony meeting a variety of different, interesting families. This meant that we were able to share experiences about different trips we had all taken.

I would recommend Daintree Riverview to anyone.

We were met by our cheerful host and taken to our rooms. We were a party of three couples and the lodges were perfect for us. The individual rooms were well appointed with some interesting antique furniture, the side tables had iron doors and forks made into handles, very quaint. The bed of course was not old but very comfy. The ensuite was practible. But the best part of all was the big veranda that all the rooms opened on to. It had kitchen facilities and lounges and chairs. Just the place for a group of people to get together after a hard day site seeing and to have a wine or three.
We woke to the site of mist on the river and later the views of the daintree.
A lovely place.

I stayed here for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The cabins in the lodge have a bedroom and en-suite. The room was very clean, bright and cheery, with stunning views of the Daintree River. I am a late riser and was never disturbed. The common area on a wide verandah provided a perfect place where guests could either sit and read or get to know other travellers. The verandah includes the common kitchen area where guests can prepare meals or make a cup of coffee. Cutlery, crockery, cooking pans etc are provided, just bring the ingredients. Like the cabins, this area was always scrupulously clean and guests responded by cleaning up after themselves. Sitting on the verandah provided the perfect vantage spot for seeing the electric Ulysses butterfly and the little yellow sun birds and getting great photos of the sun setting on the river. From the lodge it is just a short stroll to the jetty where you can board boats for tours down the Daintier River. The managers were friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and the variety of tours available. A word of warning: shopping in the Daintree Village is very limited, so bring food with you, otherwise there is a licensed cafe across the road which does very nice meals or you can get toasted sandwiches and coffee from the caravan park.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view down the river.

There is no doubt the place is in a good location and the view is great, we stayed there several years ago, and went back just for the view. Sadly it has changed hands and the new managers seem to forget they are in the hospitality business. there is no kettle in the room and the manager told my wife the sinks and kettles ect were removed as they did not like having to clean up after guests. There is a mini fridge in the most appalling wooden frame I have ever seen in a room. There is a double bed and a bunk, in the small room, that would have been just right as it used to be, a self contained double. Now one is expected to share the kettle ect with other guests on the veranda, just what you want first thing in the morning, and I do mean first thing as there is no way you will get a lie in. As it was hot we slept with the patio door open and the fly screen closed, at seven thirty am the manager was brushing outside our door and his wife was walking about with a hoover, it was clear they wanted every one up and out. As I was dressing a fellow guest walked past our room door and said 'I DONT THINK YOU WILL BE SEEING ME AGAIN' to the manager. We had a great evening meal at the Daintree cafe just over the road and took a botle of wine onto the boarded area for a nice quiet drink. The manager kept looking through his room curtains and giving us dirty looks. It was nine pm. The overall impression of the place is we have got your money now sod off.

Room Tip: go see the view and stay somewhere else

We booked into the Lodge accommodation for a one nights stay before heading back to Cairns. We arrived on the wettest day for sometime and were flooded in. We arrived in the pouring rain and rang the owner to see where to park. He was stranded on the other side of the creek but told us where to go and to check ourselves in, with the help of their backpacker helpers. We did so and had a lovely overnight stay. The room was old-fashioned but comfortable and opened on to a great wide covered verandah with comfortable sitting areas and an outdoor (but under cover) kitchen with fridge, microwave, gas stove, sink - everything we needed. We loved relaxing and cooking and eating on the verandah looking out at the flooded river and watching the farmer cross the river in his tinny and round up his cattle to move them to higher ground. The verandah had great hanging potplants and memorabilia on the wall - all very interesting to us. The owners came over the next mornign and we had a good chat. We were a little disappointed next morning when we found out the river had gone down enough for us to go back to Cairns. We would have liked another day to relax in this lovely spot. This would be a great place for a group weekend outing. All the rooms open on to the verandah and the shared kitchen, sitting and eating area would be great for a group of couples or families.

Room Tip: Ask for a room up the far end of the Verandah overlooking the river.
