“Disappointed”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

This hotel is in need of some serious upgrades if they're going to continue to charge these rates. The rooms are dated and faded. The beds are uneven and uncomfortable. The majority of the resort appears dilapidated, areas of the boardwalks are rotting and termite eaten- this level of degradation would be condemned by any building inspector as a hazard to safety. The gardens are lovely and the sound of the running creek is soothing but it didn't make up for the disappointing facilities. When we complained we were advised to 'remember where we are'. Ha! You mean a 30 minute drive on a bitumen highway from Port Douglas? We live on an island off the northern tip of Australia and my bathroom here is better appointed than these rooms. It's clear that the tourism industry in qld has suffered for many years but that does not excuse charging high prices for substandard rooms. The staff seemed incredulous at our disappointment and gave us an upgrade... But even the upgraded room seemed shabby for the discounted cost.
The bathrobes in our room were hilariously old and well used- not appealing. My towel had a huge hole in it.... By this stage I had to laugh at how truly bad the standard of this place is.
We originally looked at staying in the Daintree rainforest closer to the beaches but chose this place as we were looking for a lttle luxury. So disappointing.

Sorry to hear of your recently disappointing experience ErinandAlex3013. Your points are valid and we are aware of the condition of some parts of the property. But rest assured no parts were close to condemmed in a recent engineers report.
Having recently purchased the property we are excited about its potential and to unlock this, we have planned substantial renovations that will transform almost every corner of the resort. These are scheduled to begin in the coming months. We have already begun soft refurbishments, like brand new posturepedic beds.
In the meantime, we have reduced room rates by 30% to which we feel is fair given the inclusions, however, if you feel short changed, please contact me directly at reservations@daintreegroup.com.au

So we travel a lot and have been to Belize , and Costa Rica among other rain forest destinations. Daintree Eco is right off the road, and though it's in the rain forest if you are expecting to be bathed in forest, and lost in nature you will be disappointed. For that I suggest you cross the Daintree River north as once you cross that ferry, there being no bridge, the rain forest really starts to take over, the sugar cane farms start to fade away, and your rain forest expectations can probably be meet

The resort itself is nice, but definitely in need of rehab. If you understand the rooms are nice but basic, then I think you could be very pleased. Nice view of the stream and the sound of it gurgling put us gently to sleep each night. As many have said the resort has no activities except a short walk led our time, by a very lovely and knowledgable aboriginal willing to share his insight and knowledge on our short walk, which costs 40$ per person, which is great if he gets to keep any of it.

The restaurant food is good, some even very good, but as many have said, very over priced. if you come by car, absolutely go the few clicks to the village of Daintree, which you can't miss as the road literally ends there, and eat lunch at any of the few places. They are very rustic, very low key, many more options and great vibe and price. The side of fruit, at the place labeling itself a burger place, (though they had great fresh seafood as well), was full of fabulous exotic fruits, from Sapota, to sour sap to others we can't remember. The free exotic fruit plate at breakfast at Daintree was melon and pineapple,

So again, a lovely place. But don't expect to much but a fun cabin like tree house over looking a stream, and friendly staff you can track down when you need them and you'll be happy. more than that and you will be disappointed. I think for the price they should invest in some refurbishment, and add a little, more service. I'd suggest that a one night stay would give you what you need, and then head north toward Cape Tribulation and spread your rain forest stay out.

Room Tip: Definitely go for rooms 10/11 or best 12. The "lagoon" rooms overlook the an Small man m...

My mother (late 60s) and I (30s) stayed here as part of our trip down under. Definitely our least favorite resort by far. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible; it just wasn't great. The rooms are nice, albeit fairly rustic but you're in the rainforest after all. The food at the restaurant was outrageously expensive for what it was. There wasn't really anything to do at the resort.

We asked the hotel to book us on a day trip to see the rainforest. Boy, did the resort ruin that day for us. We had been told it was a half day driving tour. Instead, what they booked us for was a small drive around and then a swim in a waterfall. Great, right? Not so much if no one told you to bring a bathing suit. My mother and I sat around like idiots for 2 hours while everyone else swam and basked in the waterfall. Waste of money and waste of our day. When we got back, we complained and there was no apology, no refunds, no nothing. We had been told they would do something to apologize for us, but they never did anything. I would not recommend this place.

We stayed here one evening while visiting the Daintree Rainforest, and I genuinely wish we had stayed longer! Everything about the visit was excellent. The experience of staying in a rainforest was incredible, as I feel asleep hearing the birds calling and the wind going through the trees. (Luckily, the mosquito nets assure that bug bites will NOT be a part of the rainforest experience.) What prompted me to write this review was the staff. Everyone was courteous and extremely helpful. We ate dinner at the restaurant at night as well, and everything was top-notch. I did not utilize any of their spa services, so I won't comment on those here, but overall I have no bad things to say about this place and would recommend to anyone who wants a wonderful evening in the Daintree.

We treated ourselves to one night here because it is very pricey! But we were so glad we did it - we went for a spa bayan, which we would definitely recommend. The bayan is beautiful, with a canopied bed and Eco Lodge spa products in the bathroom, dressing gowns etc. The bedroom opens out onto the balcony, which includes a Jacuzzi. My tip would be to spend as much time as you possibly can in that Jacuzzi - it's the most relaxed I think I've ever been! It's incredibly romantic as you sit there until the sun goes down just watching/listening to nature and the sound of the nearby waterfall. At dusk you see bats etc and you can hear a whole new group of sounds. If you can possibly afford it, I'd suggest staying for at least 2 nights, because we found just 1 night wasn't enough to make the most of the other facilities at the Eco lodge. I can't recommend the place highly enough - really beautiful location, excellent food as well and the restaurant is located just next to a pond with lovely rainforest plants everywhere.

Room Tip: Choose the spa bayan room at the very top of the waterfall (I think it's no.12, but check) - we...

Normal price is quiet steep, but on special its fantastic value. We had 2 nights in our own Spa Cabin, tucked away in the Rainforest. Very private feeling in the actual cabins, they are not exposed to each other.
Breakfast included (which is amazing). Nice area, typical Daintree flair. Staff was helpful and friendly. The Restaurant food is AWESOME, try the crocodile! We ordered a Lunch Picnic Basket to take away with us. This thing was LOADED with great food, salmon, prawns, cheese, salami, crackers, fruit and so on, all FRESH! Very Delicious, and fair price, highly recommend it! Only letdown was the second night I could not order the crocodile because it was not on the Wednesday Menu - which is odd, but nothing they could do. So we had steak - which was mind blowing. Overall very happy, would do it again.

We have stayed here twice and definately have intentions to stay again. If relaxation in a beautiful spot is what your looking for this is it!! The service and staff were great! The spa and it's fantastic treatments are superb. The lady that did our treatments (both times) makes you feel extremely at ease and comfortable. The natural products used at the spa are devine, there is even free use of some of these products in the rooms. The spa on the raised balconies are great!! All the rain forest units are very secluded you almost feel like your all on your own. From the room you can hear the beautifully calming sounds of the nearby waterfall. I have NEVER relaxed so much in my life! I love that there was no T.V to interrupt the natural sounds and beauty. This is a real couples destination. The restaurant was great, good service and the meals superb. They really didnt give us a reason to want to leave the location. We had a spa treatment then instead of going anywhere for lunch, the staff packed us a delightful picnic hamper, which we could have taken anywhere, but decided to sit on our balcony overlooking the rain forest and creek below. I can't wait for my next visit.
