Owner description: Kenilworth is a small rural township in the beautiful Mary Valley. Part of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland its rolling hills and lush green pasture make this ideal dairy country. The Kenilworth Cheese Factory was purchased from the Kraft Corporation in 1990 by a group of former employees who created a factory that specialised in quality hand crafted cheeses. Recently the factory was purchased by the Cochrane family, 6th generation local dairy farmers, who are determined to enhance the tradition of quality dairy production. Utilising the milk from their own herd, creating the Kenilworth Dairies brand and investing heavily in the Kenilworth factory has ensured the tradition of udderly delicious dairy products will continue to flourish in the Mary Valley. There is a lot happening at the factory with renovations and with the possible cheese making work shops (TBA). Open 7 days a week 9am - 4pm for Cheese Tastings, Coffee, Lunch or Snack. Hope to see you at Kenilworth Dairies.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Food available for purchase

OK it's a cheese factory, but really it's a roadside deli. If you are on the scenic drive which takes in the small but well kept village of Kenilworth, it's worth checking out what is an extensive range of products, although many of the actual Kenilworth goods can be bought in the major stores. Self serve tasting area for the main cheeses. The multitude of plastic signs are irritating and apparently there are factory tours, but only on a Saturday am. Enjoyed our purchases of premium vintage cheddar and various yoghurts, plus couldn't resist a bottle of 'Smack my ar*e and call me Cindy' chilli sauce. Passed on the chocolate mousse, but am reliably informed it's yum.

We took the scenic drive from Montville, through Maleny, Conondale and on to Kenilworth with the hope of having a good look inside the cheese factory. But on the day of our visit there were no scheduled cheese tours, only a cart with a whole lot of cheese and yoghurt samples to try in the outdoors, under cover store. It is all self serve, no interaction with any staff until you pay for your purchases. There is a good range of cheeses and yoghurt at very good prices, well worth the drive. The little township of Kenilworth is worth a look, unfortunately for us we visited on a Monday and a look of the quaint looking stores were closed.

Thought we might see more about the production, although this was on Anzac day, so might be different on a working day.
Good to try some free samples, helped us choose which cheeses to buy. The chocolate mousse was lovely!

First of all they don't do tours so I don't know why the promotional literature for Kenilworth tells people to visit the Cheese Factory. You can go to a "viewing window" and you will be lucky to see anything happening inside. We went there on a Monday and there was not a soul inside. And what is it with all the signs? There are laminated A4 signs telling what you can and can't do. You can't sit here if you have your dog with you; you must keep your children on a leash - no...wait, that's the dog. Anyway, there's a sign about children. Then there are signs telling you to "smile" for the surveillance camera. There are signs on the sample cabinet, signs on how to order your ice cream. By the time I read all the signs I decided I didn't like this place very much and left without purchasing anything because I had digested enough signs to keep me going. This place is full of signs and I just think it's time to chill people; if you don't want anyone there just say so, close the gate, take it off the promotional literature and call it a day!

Went to the Kenilworth Cheese Factory on a Monday. It wasn't quite what I was expecting. It had shelves of deli goods (sauces, jams, relishes), a tasting refrigerator that you help yourself to cheese from containers with toothpicks and fridges with cheeses and yoghurts to buy. It was more like a small deli vs a factory. Minimal staff interaction. The cheese is great and the ice cream is yummy, but it's not a day trip experience, more of a "call past on your way somewhere else".
