Description: Reserve Restaurant Cellar is the premier fine dining experience on the Sunshine Coast. Situated only 7 km from Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Reserve is housed in a landmark colonial Queenslander with sweeping views of the Coast and Hinterland. Reserve offers a warm and intimate dining experience with polished timber floors, high backed leather chairs, crisp linen and crystal glassware. Like the spectacular views, its reputation since opening in 2007, now stretches far beyond Maleny. Testimonies to the combined talents of Chef Kieran Reekie and Sommelier Steve Heffernan include: • one star in the Courier Mail Food and Dining Guide in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011• a listing in the prestigious Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide Top 400 Restaurants in 2009, 2010 and 2011,. • one goblet in the Gourmet Traveller Wine Wine List of the Year Awards in 2008, 2009, 2010• Restaurant and Caterers Association – Best Contemporary Restaurant, 2009; Best Fine Dining Restaurant, 2010.Chef Kieran combines modern cooking with traditional methods and is passionate about taste and keeping flavours simple, so as not to confuse the palate. With an eye for detail and a love of beautiful ingredients, the resulting dishes are always superb. The menu is available online and rings in seasonal changes. Firm favourites include an entrée of Twice Baked Moreton Bay Bug and White Truffle Oil Soufflé with Vinegar Spinach and Salmon Caviar while mains include Slow Braised Shoulder of Junee Lamb with Roasted Pumpkin, Onion Relish and Seeded Mustard Crust and desserts on offer include a divine Vanilla Pannacotta with Cinnamon Beignets, Caramel Sauce. A degustation menu complete with wines for each tasting is a popular choice.Reserve Restaurant Cellar is not only innovative in the kitchen, but in the wine cellar as well. The cellar is an ever growing, and at times all consuming, foundation for Reserve. Currently holding 450 varieties, each wine is carefully chosen to create a list that appeals to all tastes and budgets and is supported by Steve, a professional sommelier who adores “talking wine” and assisting with wine selection. Reserve features two levels of dining: the ground floor, which seats a maximum of 50 people, and the Cellar, which seats up to 25 people, for a more intimate unique dining experience. Both spaces at Reserve are available for functions and events, with optional menu and beverage packages. Locals and visitors alike are able to enjoy personalised, professional service that begins from the moment they are greeted at the door. Reserve’s commitment to delivering the perfect dining experience extends to offering a drop off service to Range customers in their luxury car.

“Not really good enough”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

Dined here back in August and I'm still annoyed.

Went with 4 adults and 2 Tweens , after being seated it took ages to be asked for our order. We then waited over an hour for our entrees. Our booking was at 7 and it was at 8.20 that I asked the waitress when we would receive some food. The response was - I was wondering that as well - if you were wondering why didn't you do something?? No offer was made to give us bread or something the waitress just looked at me blankly and said the kitchen was quite busy . That would be because you seated everyone at the same time and didn't stagger the orders..when the food did arrive it was lukewarm. It was nice but nowhere near the quality it should have been for the price. For the 2 Tweens we ordered the steak and chips. The steak I wouldn't have served to my cat. It was tough and clearly the end of a piece of meat - not good enough for what we paid..
The final insult was the maître d who clearly left the young waitress to deal with the issues. Whilst our food was not being delivered and the kitchen was under pressure he thought it appropriate to stand around drinking wine with the other patrons. He continued to make his way around the restaurant stopping at pretty much every table but ours and never ever coming to apologise for the delay. Maybe we weren't worth the effort because we weren't drinking the expensive wine. Or maybe you need to be a local to be appreciated..
Not good enough it was supposed to be a nice evening out for my husbands birthday but instead just made us angry.

“Pleasant venue for Sunday lunch with friends”
Reviewed 15 September 2013 via mobile

We went for Sunday lunch with friends. Parking is limited but we found street parking over the road a short walk away. There were some big groups so service was slow, the girls on we're very busy. The young girl was nice but needed more training in what the food was and how to serve food without passing it in front of other diners. The food was very good value and servings well presented, you didn't need sides or bread to start, entrees very nice especially the quail and scallops. One small complaint, being a venison fan, I thought venison was a bit tasteless and rubbery as it was not seared enough. My friend's risotto looked delicious. Extensive wine list with good number of quality wines by the glass.
Overall very good, would go again.

“Great Food and Service”
Reviewed 6 September 2013

Went for Lunch and the Lobster Tortellini was delish and so was the Herbed Rack of Lamb, they also have a degustation menu for Lunch which is $50 and that gives you 4 courses but we ordered from the A La Carte and were not disappointed as all was delish and the service was also very good, friendly and attentive, would definitely go back.

“Degustion and matching wines - what a treat”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

Many friends have told us to try here - and we are glad we did! We enjoyed a degustation lunch with match wines - the service was great and food was lovely.

We thought it was a little expensive though.

“Amazing enjoyable lunch !”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

Just had a great lunch today at reserve maleny, it was delicious !
Family gathering of 6 people, we only see each other once every couple of years, so we chose this restaurant because we wanted to treat our family ! We enjoyed the delicious degustation menu with matching wines. My favorite was the beautiful souffle, really well balanced in the different flavours and textures, but that goes for all the dishes we had.
Our family had a great time, the owner/waiter was very friendly and helpful, giving us a full description of each wines that was matching the dish.
The atmosphere was great in the restaurant, music was a perfect mix of contemporary and timeless artists, and the deck gives out on a beautiful green hill
I highly recommend this restaurant, and would like to thank again the chef and his team and the owner and his wife for giving to the sunshine coast hinterland the best place to eat great food !
