Maroochydore beach faces due east and the surf club is right in the middle where there is ample parking for lovely sunrise or sunset walks. In winter the ocean temperature is still 23c and there are any places to surf along the entire length.

We stayed at a complex right over the road from the beach so it was just a short walk to be on the golden sands. And it was great to hear the sound of the waves from our unit.
The beach is very long and clean with no rubbish. And there is a large surf club with members patrolling the swimming area in front of their clubhouse. So it has all the things you need for a safe swim with your family.
But is it a great beach? No!
A lot of the sand has been washed away by king tides, and the local council is spending a fortune to rehabilitate the beach. The sand is coming back, but there are still large areas of rock that are still uncovered. Visually it does not have the attraction of other Sunshine Coast beaches, such as Caloundra or Noosa Heads, which both offer great alternative beaches depending on the wind direction.
We enjoyed our holiday, but would I go back? No; as beach lovers we will go to Caloundra or Noosa.
If the beach is not your reason for selecting a holiday location you will love Maroochydore, especially around the Cotton Tree area. Great caravan park there, and a great little shopping centre with good restaurants.

The beach is long and big, the waves are carrying surfers along their ride or gently rising them up and lowering them down. The sound of the waves awash you and the sunrise colours are stunning. Sometimes in the season you can see whales too. Everyone's happy and some say good morning while the surf life savers begin their day setting up the flags and gear, watching the beauty too.
